Council Minutes of 12/4/S4 -7-
LEGISLATION (cont'd):
Ordinance No. 84-123 introduced by Mayor Swietyniowski was given its first reading.
An ordinance approving the extension of sanitary sewer services to approximately
forty-eight acres of land off Fitch Road and Cook Road and consisting of approximately
ninety residential lots and a six acre shopping strip located within Olmsted Township.
Referred to Streets and Drainage Committee.
Under Old Business:
Mrs. Petrigac called the Service Director's attention to a bad ceiling leak at the
Community Cabin; ceiling tiles close to the kitchen area are ready to fall.
Mrs. Petrigac also asked the Mayor if the hand railing in front of City Hall is to
be replaced; it is badly needed. Service Director Corrigan stated that he does not
recommend replacement of this railing; it has already been the victim of two auto-
mobile casualties. It was installed twice by the contractor and Mr. Corrigan does not
feel that he can be held responsible again; feels it is a hazard due to design and
installation. Mayor stated this would be discussed; will have to make sure it meets
504 regulations; perhaps it will be installed on the other side of the walk, the
building side.
Mrs. Petrigac mentioned the letter from Clerk of Council Campbell with respect to the
use of Council Chambers. Asked if this had been referred to a committee of council
since the Clerk had raised some valid points. President Boehmer responded that it had
not been placed into committee; feels all of Council should discuss; perhaps it can
be addressed at the meeting immediately following the Council Meeting this evening.
Mr. Wilamosky asked if the Mayor had received a copy of the proposed budget from the
Landmarks Commission; Mayor replied that he had received it. Mr. Wilamosky asked if
any of these proposals had been incorporated in the temporary fiscal year 1985 appropri-
ations; Mayor replied that they had not.
Mr. Tallon asked if some kind of signage could be installed on the wall next to the
Caucus Room doors, indicating what meetings were taking place therein. Some people
have sat in the Council Chambers, unaware that the meeting they were to attend was
already taking place in one of the Caucus Rooms and that's where they should be.
Mayor suggested the installation of a stand, like the one in the lobby, where notices
are just slipped in. Mr. Tallon stated any kind of signage would be appreciated.
Mr. Bierman thanked the Mayor for his information regarding the signing of the Walter
Drape contract even though it was ten working days late from his original request.
Under New Business:
Mrs. Petrigac asked where the rent for City-owned houses goes when it is collected.
Finance Director Boyle stated that there is a line item for rental of houses; it is
in the general fund, about the third page of the general fund's receipts.
Mrs. Petrigac scheduled a Transportation Committee Meeting to meet jointly with the
Safety Committee for December 11th at 7 P.M. Upon being advised that this was the
night of Lt. Christman's retirement party, Mrs. Petrigac stated she would reschedule.
Mayor Swietyniowski asked Mrs. Petrigac to invite him to attend her meeting when Reso-
lution No. 84-114 is discussed.
In answer to Mr. Wilamosky's question about signalization on Lorain Road, east and west
ends, Mrs. Petrigac stated that the east end is covered in Phase Three and the west end
covered in Phase Four.
