,,
•~ Council Minutes of /17/84 _3_
Mr. O'Grady, Chairman Public Safety, Health and Welfare Committee reported: 1) The
Safety Committee met on Monday, July 9th, with all members present. Safety Director,
Chief Taylor and Captain Brow were also in attendance. Speed reduction to 25 miles
per hour on Porter Road was discussed. At the May 10th meeting, committee had
recommended that Captain Brow refer this matter to the Ohio Department of Trans-
portation. It was ODOT's opinion that because Porter Road is over one mile in
length, a traffic survey should be completed before legislation is requested.
A certified traffic survey will cost $1,000 and this matter will be referred to the
Finance Committee for possible funding.
2.) Ordinance No. 84-53 was discussed, providing for the installation of three stop
signs at the intersection of Hickory Lanc and Old Shore Drive. After much dis-
cussion, Committee agreed that one stop sign at Hickory Lane and Old Shore Drive
would provide adequate safety and control. Mr. O'Grady moved to amend Ordinance No.
84-53 by deleting the request for three stop signs and inserting the request for
one stop sign at the corner of Hickory Lane and Old Shore Drive, second by Mrs. Petrigac,
unanimously approved. Ordinance No. 84-53 amended and placed back on second .reading.
3) Committee reviewed Ordinance No. 84-54 which establishes no stopping or parking
zones on both sides of Christman Drive, between Sutton Drive and the 1480 right-of-way.
Committee recommends adoption.
4) Ordinance No. 84-52 covers misidentification. This legislation was strongly
recommended by the City Prosecutor as well as the Police Department. Misidentification
generally covers minor offenses such as traffic violations and has been a source of
e~arrassment to the Prosecutor and the Police Department when the wrong person is
subpoened to appear in court. with this ordinance the person who misidentifies him-
self will be guilty of a misdemeanor in the second degree and the offense could result
in imprisonment of 90 days or a fine of $750 or both. Committee reco~nds adoption.
5) Mr. O'Grady moved Council have no objection to a DI liquor permit for Timber Trail
Party Center, Inc., 30850 Lorain Road, which is legal in a dry precinct, second by
Mrs. Saringer. Committee
agreed to adopt the plan presented by Kotecki Monument with the exception of the
benches.
