,, ~
Council Minutes of '/17/84
- 7-
Mr. Wilamosky asked if the legislation requested by Council with respect to the
Charter amendments for the Treatment Plant had been received from Squire, Sanders
and Dempsey. Finance Director Boyle advised that it had been received and sub-
mitted to Law Director Gareau for review.
Mr. Wilamosky asked if the money due and owing the City for the sale of the homes
that once housed the. administrative offices had been received. Director Boyle re-
sponded that it had not.
Under New Business:
Mrs. Petrigac again addressed the question of whether or not college students were
going to be allowed to paint house numbers on the curbs. Understood they were re-
fused a permit to do so. Was told by the Safety Director that this came under the
jurisdiction of the Service Department. Was informed by the Service Department that
this project would be undertaken by the Service Department, using summer help; would
start the first part of August. There are college students out in the community
doing this painting of house numbers without permits. It should be made known to
everyone that this is not allowed, if indeed the Service Department intends to
handle it. Service Director stated that there are some county workers assigned to
the city, who are not on the city payroll, who will be doing this number lettering
as of August 1st and will be under the supervision of city-employed summer help.
Mrs. Saringer requested that soap be placed in the dispensers in the rest rooms on
the second floor.
Mr. Bierman asked that a letter of appreciation be sent to Linda Spencer, commending
her for the fine job she did as Acting Clerk of Council.
Mr. Petre commented on the condition of the Barton/Lorain service station. He and
Building Commissioner Gundy met on this today. Mr. Gundy will be talking with
Standard Oil who has a lease on the property which runs for another 2-1/2 to 3 years.
The tanks were removed several months ago and fill put in. The tires have been placed
there to allow the ground time to settle. Mr. Petre is recommending that the area be
chained off and the property cleaned up.
Mr. O'Grady scheduled a Safety Committee Meeting for Monday, July 23rd, at 7 0"clock
to cover Ordinance No. 84-62, fireworks. Requested Mr. Petre to be in attendance.
Mr. Logan mentioned that he requested Council to designate a member of Council to
serve on the Tax Board of Review; perhaps it should be done at this time since
Council will be on vacation next month. Mrs. Saringer advised that Mr. Wilamosky
had been unanimously voted to serve as Council's representative on the Tax Board
of Review; no one had reported to Mr. Logan.
There being no further business, President Boehmer adjourned the Council Meeting at
10:15 P.M.
b.
Florence E.
