<br />Mr. Wilamosky stated that this did not answer his question - asked the Mayor to
<br />explain why the Administration has changed its position. Mayor Swietyniowski re-
<br />plied that he had not discussed this with Safety Director or Public Works
<br />Commissioner; will have to get the information. and report back. Mrs. Petrigac noted
<br />that a Recreation Committee Meeting would be held on Monday, May 7th, and would
<br />like a copg of Mr. Cout's memo; would like Safety Director to be in attendance;
<br />would like to have the Mayor's report. at that time as well. Mr. Wilamoskp also
<br />asked for an explanation from the Mayor as to why this drainage repair was not
<br />going to be done in-house. Mayor stated he would have all the information
<br />available at the meeting on May 7th.
<br />Mr. Bierman, Chairman Long Range Planning Committee reported: 1) Attended an all
<br />day seminar today, sponsored by the Land Development Council of the Building Industry
<br />Association. Title of the seminar was Tomorrow's Community, Today. Also present
<br />from the City was Building Commissioner Gundy; Mr, Remmel, BZA Committee; Mr. Horvath,
<br />BZA Committee; Councilwomen Petrigac and Saringer; Mrs. Traczyk, Planning Commission;
<br />Mrs. Case, ARB; Mrs. Julia Brown, Planning Commission; Mary Slama, Administrative
<br />Assistant. Seminar dealt with ways to secure the future of the building industry
<br />and the population growth and livability of the community.
<br />Mr. O'Grady, Chairman Public Safety, Health and Welfare Committee reported; 1) Moved
<br />Council have no objection to the issunace of a C1, C2 permit for Rozi's Wine House,
<br />Incorporated, 28971 Lorain Road, second by Mr. Bierman, unanimously approved.
<br />Mrs. Petrigac, Chairman Recreation, Public Parks and Buildings Cott~nittee as well as
<br />Transportation Committee reported: 1) Budget and Management Director Logan and
<br />Mrs. Petrigac met with Mr. Kotecki from Kotecki Monuments regarding the war/peace-
<br />type proposal for North Olmsted Parka Mr. Kotecki wLll be presenting a diagram
<br />of the present plagued monument, with extensions on either side, where the names of
<br />Korean and Viet Nam veterans can be added. Also, the names of any policemen, firemen,
<br />or elected officials could be added to the plaque, There will be two seats so
<br />people can sit and meditate. The shrubs which hide the existing stone will be cut
<br />down. Further details will be availah3.e in a few weeks.
<br />Mr. Tallon, Chairman Building, Zoning and Development Committee reported: 1) At
<br />the Special Council Meeting of April 23rd, Council approved the special permit granted
<br />Jerry Slabaugh by the Board of Zoning Appeals to add to a non-conforming building.
<br />2) BZD Committee met on April 26, 1984, with Councilmen Bierman, Rademaker, Petrigac,
<br />and Tallon in attendance as well as Building Commissioner. Gundy and Engineer McDermott.
<br />Mr. Gundy recommended a stay of demolition, as per request of the owners, of the
<br />century home at 4302 Porter Road. Mr, and Mrs. Flagner had presented a contractor's
<br />proposal to reconstruct the house. Committee approved the stay of demolition under
<br />the following conditions: (1) Contract must be signed by May 1st. (2) Work must be
<br />started within fifteen days. (3) Work must be completed seventy-five days thereafter.
<br />Mr. and Mrs. Flagner presented the signed contract to reconstruct the property,
<br />calling for completion with seventy-five days, in caucus this evening, thereby meeting
<br />conditions one and three. The second condition, start of reconstruction within fifteen
<br />days, was given verbally. Mr. Tallon moved Council grant a stay of demolition on
<br />the house located at 4302 Porter Road, with the provision that some progress be shown,
<br />if not completed within seventy-five days, second by Mrs. Petrigac, unanimously approved.
<br />3) BZD Committee discussed the Talan Machine Shop proposal to construct a machine shop
<br />on the property west of 31376 Lorain Road. Proposal was reviewed and approved if the
<br />following conditions were met: (1) that split block be approved by the Board of
<br />Building Code of Appeals; (2) driveway be moved a minimum of ten feet from either
<br />property line; (3) drainage be approved by the Engineering Department; (4) all
<br />recommendations by the Board of Zoning Appeals and Planning Commission be met. Mr.
<br />Tallon moved Council accept the Talan Machine Shop proposal as described above,
<br />second by Mr. Bierman, unanimously approved.
