L . _... <br />Council Minutes of 10/15/85 -2- <br />Mrs. Petrigac, Chairman Recreation, Public Parks and Buildings Committee as well <br />'~' as Transportation Committee reported: 1) Transportation Committee met with De- <br />partment of Human Resources to discuss the van to be used for the Senior Citizens <br />and the handicapped. Director Don Copeland had a meeting with NUACA and North <br />Olmsted will act as the coordinating service area for Olmsted Fa11s, Olmsted <br />Township and Fairview Park seniors. Primary allocation for the total project is <br />$123,847 - 20X local share/$24,769; 80X federal share/$99,078. The van is an <br />eight passenger vehicle with room for two wheelchairs. The cost is $24,491 with <br />the City's 20X match of $4,898. Department of Human Resources will be working <br />with Kiwanis because they are a 501C3 - a non-profit organization. Of this <br />$4,898, Olmsted Falls will pay 12Xj$5$8; Olmsted Township will pay 14X/$686; <br />North Olmsted will pay 74X/$3,624. All operating. expenses will have the same <br />percentages. North Olmsted has been asked to serve on the Board of Directors and <br />is being considered as the hub for all westside communities. North Olmsted will <br />be doing the maintenance on the van since it has such fine mechanics. <br />Audience participation: <br />Mr. Mark Boepple, 6331 Surrey Drive, thanked Council for placing the sign ordin- <br />ance, No. 85-86 back in committee. <br />Mr. Paul Harvey, 6041 Lewis Drive, asked why Lewis Drive has not been repaired <br />as was promised last year and again this year. It is getting late in the year <br />to be doing repairs. Mayor responded that base repair is being done on Lewis <br />Drive at the present time to prepare the street for asphalting. <br />Mr. Wade Leonard, 5251 East Park Drive, again addressed his complaints with re- <br />spect to the Halleen Dealership on Lorain Road. A meeting of Council-of-the- <br />Whole Committee will be scheduled to discuss this recurring problem. <br />Mrs. Jean Beck, 5409 Dorothy Drive, spoke on the enforcement of Zoning Code regu- <br />lations; claimed violations by Galati's, Ohio Suzuki, Halleen and Great Northern <br />Sports Import. President Boehmer stated he would speak with Building Commissioner <br />about these matters. <br />Mr. Roger Clingman, Mastick Road, again addressed the relocation of Elm Road. <br />Mayor advised his office will not get involved in requesting the state for a <br />variance nor go forward with this project; he will follow the guidelines of the <br />Planning Commission and the other boards. <br />At this point in the meeting, 9:15 P.M., Councilman Rademaker took his place at <br />the council table. <br />Mr. Dwayne Woerpel, 4632 Carsten Lane, invited Council to support the North <br />Olmsted Eagles by attending a Tailgate Party at 7 o'clock, Friday evening, prior <br />to the North Olmsted Eagles/Westlake Demons football game; hot cider and snacks <br />will be provided. <br />LEGISLATION: <br />Ordinance No. 85-68 introduced by Mr. Tallon was given its third reading. An <br />ordinance providing for the amendment of the Zone Map of the City of North Olmsted, <br />which Zone Map is part of the Zoning Code of the City of North Olmsted, by changing <br />the premises hereinafter described from General Retail Business District to Single <br />Residence B District. In the absence of Mr. Ta11on, Mr. Bierman moved for <br />adoption, second by Mrs. Saringer, unanimously approved. Ordinance No. 85-68 <br />adopted. <br /> <br />
