<br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />APRIL 2, 1985 <br />Present: President James Boehmer, Councilmen Bierman, O'Grady, Petrigac, <br />Rademaker, Tallon, Wilamosky. (Mr. Wilamosky present at 8:40 P.M.) <br />Also present: Mayor Robert Swietyniowski, Law Director Michael Gareau, Finance <br />Director Edward Boyle, Clerk of Council Florence Campbell. <br />Absent: Councilwoman Saringer. <br />Meeting was called to order by President Boehmer at 8:00 P.M., in Council <br />Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Members of Council in reciting <br />the Pledge of Allegiance. <br />Minutes of the regular Council Meeting of March 19 , 1985, were approved. <br />Minutes of the special Council Meeting of March 26, 1985, were approved. <br />Minutes of the special Council Meeting of March 28, 1985, were approved. <br />President Boehmer announced that Resolution No. 85-35, authorizing the Safety <br />Director to advertise for bids for a water coolant tower for the Recreation <br />Complex, was being added to the agenda. <br />Mayor Swietyniowsky reported: 1) Community Development Block Grant Public <br />Hearing will be held on Thursday, May 2nd, at 8 P.M., in Council Chambers. <br />All residents are invited and encouraged to attend and present their suggestions <br />on uses for these funds; allocation is expected to be between sixty and ninety <br />thousand dollars. <br />2) Nominated Michael Patton to serve on the Landmarks Commission. <br />3) Announced that eleven homeowners asked for help through Operation HOME since <br />the program was started late last year. While this program was originally <br />offered to the elderly and handicapped, it has proven so successful that it is <br />now being made available to all residents. Any resident seeking help with home <br />repairs should call City Hall at 777-8000 and ask for Operation HOME. <br />4) City-wide street sweeping will start next Monday and will be completed in <br />a week to a week and a half. <br />5) Will be introducing legislation this evening to provide for an architect to <br />draw plans for repairs to the Community Cabin; would like to sit in on the <br />committee meeting when this is discussed. <br />Law Director Gareau reported: 1) Pre-trial was held regarding the Kennedy <br />Case in which the City was being sued for $250,000. The City of Cleveland, as <br />well as the plaintiff, agreed to dismiss the City of North Olmsted and the City <br />is no longer involved. <br />2) Pre-trial was held last week in <br />on the basis discussed in executive <br />go to trial in the near future. <br />3) Has investigated the background <br />for voluntary recognition with the <br />a report to council. <br />the Wright Case.
