Council Minutes of 2/5/85 -5-
recognized by the State Employee Relations Board on November 21, 1985. The State
;~ Employee Relations Board notified the City, on September 17, 1984, of the fire-
fighters request for recognition and the City had a prescribed number of days in
which to file a request for exclusion of certain job classifications. This letter
was not received in the Mayor's office until after the prescribed date for which the
City had to file for such exclusions. Mr. Wilamosky is concerned with respect to
who signed for the registered letter; who held it until the eleventh hour. The
Mayor's filing for some exclusions was rejected on the basis that the City did not
file within the prescribed time. Would like Council to give some thought to having
the Law Department and the Administration investigate to see who signed for the
letter, who intercepted that letter and kept it from the Mayor until too late for
the City to file for exclusions.
President Boehmer suggested that the information presented by Mr. ?ailamosky be
turned over to the Law Department for investigation. Law Director asked that
the information and research already compiled by sent to him, in writing, and he
would look into it.
Mr. Rademaker scheduled an Environmental Committee Meeting for February 12th at
7:30 P.M.
!rlr. Rademaker discussed the horrible condition of 1480 due to the snow accumulation
and described a very bad accident that he witnessed earlier in the day. While 1480
is neglected by the Ohio Department of Transportation, I71 is usually in very good
condition. Asked the Administration to see if ODOT could pay more attention to
1480. Safety Director Petre stated he would communicate with ODOT and see what
the state's procedures were with respect to snow removal and salting. Service
Director Corrigan stated that upon specific requests from the North Olmsted Police
Department, the City Service Department has salted the ramps. Has also, in the past,
coordinated with the state in salting 1480.
Mr. Rademaker also stated that there was another accident right near the Claque Road
interchange and noticed a young lady walking up the highway after her car had spun
out, obviously looking for a phone to call for help. Has any progress been made
with respect to Mr. Bierman's request for the Administration to contact Ohio Bell
about the installation of emergency phones. Service Director stated that he had not
heard of any progress. Safety Director advised that in the past Ohio Bell had turned
a deaf ear to any request for phone installation in the area.
Mrs. Petrigac complimented the Service Department for-the good job they have done in
keeping the streets of North Olmsted plowed and salted.
Mrs. Petrigac reported that she had been approached by the PTA to help implement a
program to have children's pictures video taped. Has discussed such a program with
Chairman O'Grady of the Public Safety, Health and Welfare Committee and he concurs
that the City should become involved. Requested President Boehmer to refer this
matter to the Safety Committee so it could he pursued by Mr. O'Grady and herse_l.f_.
President Boehmer asked that this be done.
Mr. Bierman commented that as far as Mr. Rademaker's remarks concerning the in-
stallation of emergency phones were concerned, it has now been fifteen working days
and he has not vet heard from the Mayor as he promised.
Mr. O'Grady scheduled a Safety Committee Meeting for Wednesday, 7 P.M., February 13th
with Safety Director Petre, Sgt. Novak and President Boehmer to he in attendance.
There being no further business, President Boehmer adjourned the Council ?4eting at
9:30 P.M. ~
