MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />JANUARY 2, 1985 <br />Present: President James Boehmer, Councilmen Bierman, O'Grady, Petrigac, <br />Rademaker, Saringer, Tallon, Iailamosky. <br />Also present: Mayor Robert Swietyniowski, Law Director Michael Gareau, Finance <br />Director Edward Boyle, Clerk of Council Florence Campbell. <br />Meeting was called to order by President Boehmer at 8:10 P.M., in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Members of Council in reciting the <br />Pledge of Allegiance. <br />Minutes of the Council Meeting of December 18, 1984, were approved. <br />President Boehmer announced that Ordinance No. 84-127 had been renumbered to read <br />"85-2". Also, Resolution No. 85-1, commending the public service of Chief Taylor, <br />and Ordinance No. 85-3, North Olmsted Municipal Bus Line wages, had been added to <br />tonight's agenda. <br />Mayor Swietyniowski reported: 1) Several new officers have been sworn in at the <br />Police Department: Lieutenant Robert Krynak sworn in as Captain; Sergeant Thomas <br />Weston sworn in as Lieutenant and Patrolman George Ruple sworn in as Sergeant. <br />Also, Captain Thomas Marsh has been appointed Acting Police Chief until the Civil <br />Service test can be given, probably the end of February or early in March. <br />2) The Service Department has started a second and third shift, as of today, and <br />extending to April 15, 1985. The two extra shifts will cover from 11 P.M. to <br />7:30 A.M. and from 3 P.M. to 11:30 P.M., ]Konday through Friday. There will be two <br />men on each shift who will be available to start salting city streets quickly in <br />the event of early snowfalls. <br />Law Director Gareau reported: 1) A pre-trial was held with respect to the Romp Re- <br />zoning Case; attempts to resolve the issues through some of the residents were un- <br />successful; trial date has been set for May 20, 1985. <br />2) City has been served with a summons in a new case, State Farm versus the City of <br />North Olmsted; basically a replevin case. North Olmsted Police Department has taken <br />possession of a stolen vehicle, the chassis of which had been taken from one vehicle <br />and added to the body of another vehicle. State Farm, owner of the bottom part, <br />wants the whole car back and has been refused by the North Olmsted Police Department. <br />Law Director will let the courts decide the proper action to be taken. <br />Finance Director Boyle reported: 1) Last year, advised that due to a change in law <br />on tangible personal property, the City would not receive the same amount that was <br />in the original amended certificate but that the State of Ohio would reimburse, by <br />the end of 1984 or the beginning of 1985, 82% of the difference - the first $10,000 <br />of tangible personal property being exempt from taxation.
