~ r ~
Council Minutes of 7/1/86
-8-
Miscellaneous business:
Mr. Wilamosky scheduled a joint Streets and Drainage Committee and Finance
Committee Meeting for Monday, July 7th, at 7:30 P.M. Immediately following
the joint meeting, would like to schedule a Finance Committee Meeting to
discuss Ordinance No. 86-56, 8b-57 and 86-58. Would ask the Mayor and/or the
Director of Budget and Management to be in attendance. Mr. Wilamosky also
scheduled a meeting of the Risk Management Task Force for Monday, July 14th,
at 8 P.M.
Mr. McKay stated that when the city planted the trees at 1480 and Grace Road,
it entered into an agreement with the State of Ohio to maintain the brass around
those trees. The .grass is now so high that the trees. are going to be choked out.
Mayor Petrigac said she would be more than glad to investigate the matter.
Mrs. Saringer noted that she was in receipt of a couple of different building
maintenance codes for residential properties and can foresee that it will entail
additional personnel in the Building Department. Before spending a lot of time
.developing a code for the City of North Olmsted, would like council and the
administration to consider whether there are sufficient funds to provide for a
Building Maintenance Inspector or the additional help necessary to enforce such
a code.
President Woerpel wished everyone a joyous, happy and safe Fourth of July holiday.
This year celebrates the 100th birthday of "Liberty Enlightening the World",
better known as .the Statue of Liberty.. Dedicated on October 28, 1886, by
President Grover Cleveland, "Lady Liberty" has held out a beacon of freedom and
hope for millions who have come to America - some finding their way to North
Olmsted. This weekend is cause to celebrate our unique American life -free from
bondage .and dictatorships, with opportunities for self-determination. Asked all
to remember some of the words of The Statue of Liberty Poem:
"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp:", cries she.
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore;
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me;
I lift my lamp beside the golden door:"
The agenda being completed and there being no further business, President Woerpel
adjourned the council meeting at 9:20 P.M.
lorence E. Campbell, Jerk of Council Dwayne .Woerpel, Pr ident of Council
