Council .Minutes of 4/1./8b _5_
Mayor Petrigac also advised Mr. Tallon that the administration was putting
together a sign, which will be erected in the very near future, indicating
the state championships, etc.
Mr. Tallon stated that he has received several complaints regarding a recent
trip taken by senior citizens to a downtown theatre. It was a bus trip to a
show and back which, for some reason,. was handled by a travel agent. There
was a $166 profit made by this travel agent which is about $3.46 additional
cost to the seniors over and above the cost of the bus fare and theatre tickets.
Why was a travel agent used; can"t this be handled by the administrator of the
Division of Aging so the senior citizens' would not have to pay extra for their
evening out? Mayor stated she would be glad to get the information back to
Mr. Tallon. Suggested that he speak to the Division of Aging Administrator her-
self and get the information first-hand.
General discussion was held with respect to available dates for North Olmsted
Administration and Council to meet with Westlake Administration and Council.
President Woerpel will poll council and forward available dates to Mayor.
President Woerpel discussed the question Mrs. Marie Herman raised at the last
meeting with respect to cable TV. After researching the cable TV ordinance and
having some discussion with Mr. Allen Ext, it appears that some apartments in
the city are basically installing their own satellite dishes and bringing in the
signals. In this case, they would not be receiving Channel 6 or other West Shore
programs. Section 14 of the cable TV ordinance says that no landlord shall un-
reasonably interfere with the installation of cable television facilites upon his
or her property or premises requested by lawful tenant except that a landlord may
require that the installation of cable television facilities conform to such
reasonable conditions as are necessary to protect the safety, functioning and
appearance of the premises and the convenience and well-being of other tenants
and basically that it should not cost the landlord any money. Discussions with
West Shore personnel indicate that this could be a problem. There does not seem
to be any particular problem at the moment although West Shore is trying to
negotiate with various apartments to install their cable. At same point, council
could be faced with the problem of having a number of tenants from a particular
apartment building wanting West Shore Cable TV and the landlord not wanting to
have it. City could find itself in somewhat of a negotiating stance with these
people at that time. Is bringing it to council's attention so it can be aware of
it and be sensitive to this particular issue.
The agenda being completed and there being no further business, President Woerpel
adjourned the council meeting at 9:15 P.M.
Florence E.
