Council Minutes of .2/.4/86 _2_ <br />_ 6) Received notification from the State Employment Relations Board that the <br />AFL/CIO filed a request for voluntary recognition as the exclusive representa- <br />tive of employees of the City of North Olmsted. This will include all clerical <br />and technical employees of the City. Excluded are all confidential employees, <br />all Police and Fire Department employees, management level employees, super- <br />visors as defined in the act and all employees currently represented by an <br />employees' organization. Notice will be posted tomorrow. <br />7) The Bradley Woods Reservation Park Manager has notified the city that <br />Bradley Road, from Barton Road to Center Ridge Road, starting February 10th, <br />from 8:30 A.M. to 2:30 P.M., Monday through Friday, will be closed to facilitate <br />the cutting back of trees on the right-of-way. Access will be maintained for <br />emergency vehicles. Any questions should be directed to the Park Manager. <br />8) Pointed out the recent newspaper articles with respect to the apprehension of <br />burglary suspects by the North. Olmsted Police Department. City can be very <br />proud of the fine work this department is doing. <br />9) Have received calls complimenting .the Service Department workers for speedy, <br />competent removal of snow; Westshore Cable coverage may be seen on Channel Six, <br />Wednesday, Thursday and Friday; thanked Service Director Noble. .and his men. <br />10) The North Olmsted Waste Water Treatment Plant has been honored as a finalist <br />in the 1985 Zimpro Plant Excellence Award Competition for consistently maintain- <br />ing high standards and excellent operation; treatment plant was pictured on the <br />cover of their brochure; expressed appreciation to Plant Manager Crider and his <br />entire crew. <br />11) Last Thursday, ninety first graders from Maple School toured city facilities; <br />expressions of their appreciation are posted on the display board in Council <br />Chambers. <br />President Woerpel expressed council's appreciation to the Off ice of the Mayor <br />for an offer of assistance while the Clerk of Council was snowbound out of <br />state. <br />Mrs. Saringer discussed the emergency phone installation and asked how juvenile <br />abuse and vandalism would be handled. Mayor explained that calls would come <br />into the Police Station and forwarded to the proper people to respond, depending <br />on the emergency. Will ask how abuses are handled by other cities at the next <br />meeting; suggested that all of council attend the next meeting with Ohio Bell <br />representatives so any questions could be answered at that time. <br />Law Director Gareau reported: 1) has filed suit against the Tudor Insurance <br />Company for failing to represent the City in the Zurawski Case; lawsuit was filed <br />in Common: Pleas and asks for actual damages plus punitive damages. <br />Finance Director Boyle reported: 1) Has been advised by Rocky River Court that <br />they have closed the year with a deficit of $43,571.16; North Olmsted's share <br />is 31.777 and city will be billed in the amount of $13,842.56 as its share of <br />court costs. <br />2) Has received some information with respect to a meeting about funding, how- <br />ever, would like to talk to the Mayor about it first and after discussing with <br />the administration, will report out to council. <br />Mrs. Saringer, Chairman Building, Zoning and Development Committee reported: <br />1) BZD Committee met January 30th with Mr. Tallon and Mrs. Saringer present as <br />well as Building Commissioner Sanker and City Engineer Schaller. Committee dis- <br />cussed Rini's Supermarket, 23000 Lorain Road, proposal to add walk-in cooler at <br />the rear of the building and plans to expand into adjacent drug store. Proposal <br />approved by ARB on January 22nd and Planning Commission on January 28th, with <br />certain modif ications. Mrs. Saringer moved council approve Rini proposal as <br /> <br />
