r <br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />DECEMBER 15, 1987 <br />Present: President Janet Saringer, Councilmen Lackey, McKay, O'Grady, <br />Rademaker, Tallon, Wilamosky. <br />Also present: Mayor Yvonne Petrigac, Law Director Michael Gareau, Finance <br />Director Edward Boyle, Clerk of Council Florence Campbell. <br />Absent: Councilman Bohlmann. <br />Meeting was called to order by President Saringer at 8:15 P.M., in Council <br />Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Members of Council in reciting <br />the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br />Minutes of Council Meeting of December 1, 1987, were approved. <br />Ms. Mary Anne Kohl, President of the North Olmsted American Field Service <br />Chapter, introduced the following gentlemen who have been brought to North <br />Olmsted on the American Field Service Exchange Student and Teacher Program: <br />from Beijing, China - Mr. Xi-Yan Zhu, residing with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Allen <br />of Woodmere Drive; from Lisbon, Portugal - Mr. Sergio Sousa, residing with <br />Mr. and Mrs. Don Baur of Laurell Lane; from Caracas, Venezuela - Mr. Reinaldo <br />Aponte, residing with Mr. and Mrs. Richard Case of Bailey Road; and from <br />Turin, Italy - Mr. Paolo Vergano, residing with the John Soltis Family on <br />Sunset Oval. Everyone is invited to attend a reception in honor of Mr. Zhu, <br />on January 13th, at the North Olmsted Public Library. North Olmsted AFS <br />Chapter is currently looking for families willing to host a foreign exchange <br />student or teacher for the 1988/89 school year; if interested, please contact <br />Ms. Kohl. <br />President Saringer reported: 1) Three new pieces of legislation have been <br />added to the agenda: 87-136, 87-137 and 87-138. Also, suspension of the rule <br />requiring three readings will be requested on legislation 87-123, 87-126, <br />87-127, 87-131, 87-132, 87-133, 87-135, 87-137 and 87-138. <br />2) Complimented the Mayor and the administration for the beautiful Christmas <br />decorations around City Hall; thought the tree lighting ceremony was especially <br />nice. <br />Mayor Petrigac reported: 1) On Tuesday, December 8th, Budget and Management <br />Director Cunningham and Mayor Petrigac met with representatives from Electronic <br />Engineering Company regarding the city's telephone system which has been out of <br />service several times recently. A possible solution to the breakdown problem <br />is a self-contained, air conditioning unit and the administration will be in- <br />vestigating costs; one price has been mentioned and the administration will be <br />contacting several other suppliers to see if the prices are comparable. <br /> <br />
