i
4.
Council Minutes of 6/2/87 -8-
adult mosquito is basically useless in an area like Bradley Woods. The spray
drives the mosquitos deeper into the woods and as soon as it dissipates, they
return. When called, the Board of Health will come out and they do spray; they
are constantly looking into different pesticides. that will be more effective.
To completely eliminate the mosquito. problem, one would have to knock down all
the trees and remove all the water. Mr. Tallon does not think Metro Parks would
institute such a program. Mr. Somers said he would write a letter, making a
.statement about this area, and forward it to council. Mr, Tallon asked the Clerk
of Council to write Metro Parks, stating the council's concerns about the mosquito
problem in the Bradley Woods area and asking them to try and clean up as much of
that area as possible.
Mr. McKay moved council designate the month of August as its vacation month this
year, second by Mr. Lackey, unanimously approved.
Mr. Lackey asked the Mayor if there was any word from the Cleveland Department of
Water regarding the water line coming up Porter Road. Mayor said no, just that
it is scheduled for this year; nothing will be happening until closer to Fall.
Mayor Petrigac announced that a fund raiser for the Senior Citizens' van would
be held at Eddie's on June 9th.
In connection with the Senior Citizens' van, Mr. Wilamosky asked the Mayor if that
was what she was referring to in her bulletin when she mentioned the "community van".
Mayor Petrigac responded that she was referring to the Kiwanis van as well as the
old school bus which has been painted and refurbished. This bus was purchased
for $300 about two years ago.
Mr. Tallon asked why the Fragapane Restaurant was allowed to open when the plans
approved by council had not been completed. Mr. Rademaker advised that the
parking was just changed on Sunday but nothing had been done with respect to the
landscaping. Mayor Petrigac will ask the :Building Department to check on the
landscaping.
There being no further business and the agenda being completed, President Saringer
adjourned the council meeting at 9:30 P.M.
orence E. Campbell, Clerk of Council
B
J et A. Saringer, Pre dent of Council
,,~ ~ _ _ ..
