Council Minutes of 4/21/87
-4 -
Mr. O'Grady stated there was a very serious problem in his ward on Good
Friday. Since City Hall was closed for the day, he contacted Service Director
Noble at home. Mr. Noble responded immediately and handled the problem at
once. Mr. O'Grady appreciated his prompt action and commended him publicly.
Mr. O'Grady expressed his surprise about the good reports being made about
the Flagner property; he had been sure that after the last council meeting,
the city would be on the site with a wrecking ball. Would like the administration
to submit a definitive report to council on the status of this property.
Mr. O'Grady scheduled a Safety Committee Meeting for Monday, April 27th, at
7:30 P.M., and asked that the Fire Chief, Police Chief, Safety Director, City
Engineer and Law Director be in attendance to discuss the "no parking" on Maplehurst;
the Clague Road traff is problem; the use of a qualif ied inspector by the Fire Chief
for supervision of all phases of blasting; review of the frozen dessert peddler
ordinance; and discussion of the letter submitted tonight with regard to the Walter
Road/Lorain Road traffic problem.
President Saringer announced that a Council-of -the Whole Committee Meeting is
scheduled for Monday, May 18th, at 8 P.M. to discuss the Mayor's tax proposal.
President Saringer asked everyone to note that the next regular council meeting
would be held on Wednesday, May 6th since elections will be held on Tuesday, the 5th.
President Saringer advised Mr. Bohlma.nn that he would chair the Intra-Governmental
Relations and Legislative Committee and serve on the BZD Committee, the Finance
Committee and the Recreation, Public Parks and Buildings Committee.
Mayor Petrigac asked Clerk Campbell exactly when she had requested the purchase
of tape cassettes and what happened. Clerk replied that she had requested a
purchase order number to buy tapes that were on sale at Radio Shack; she was told
there was no money left in the line item; also, she did not remember the exact date
but believe it to be around Christmas - either the last week in December, 1986 or
first week in January, 1987. Has requested the Radio Shack manager to try and get
information as to when the ad was run from the home office. The Mayor then asked
if the Clerk felt she had been discriminated against or felt there was any reason
for the Budget and Management Department not to purchase the tapes other than the
fact that the monies were not there? Clerk replied that she did not feel discrimin-
ated against; accepted the statement that there was no money available for this
purchase.
There being no further business and the agenda being completed, President Saringer
adjourned the council meeting at 9:20 P.M.
~~
Iorence E.
