Council Minutes of 4/7/87 <br />-2 - <br />10) The month of April has been proclaimed "Cancer Control Month"; would urge <br />support of the American Cancer Society's door-to-door campaign on April 24th, <br />25th and 26th. <br />Law Director Gareau reported; 1) As reported in the newspapers, Diversif fed <br />Developers has filed a lawsuit relative to the City's Zoning Ordinances as <br />they affect the property on the west side of Great Northern Boulevard, south <br />of I480. Law Director has already lined up experts, in anticipation of this <br />action and is pretty far along in plans to litigate the case. <br />2) Although the Romp brief has not been filed, it is basically completed; will <br />be filed within the next week. <br />3) A notice of appeal has been filed in the Slifka Case; is currently working on <br />the brief . <br />4) In the past week, has taken a deposition from a person who claimed she slipped <br />on some water at the Recreation Complex; is preparing to go to trial. <br />Finance Director Boyle reported; 1) Has received and distributed the latest <br />amended certificate. <br />2) Arthur Young and Company are presently doing the background work prior to <br />conducting the full scale audit in May. <br />3) With respect to the Mayor's comment regarding the Clerk of Council's request <br />to purchase tapes, the request was made at the beginning of 1987, not at the end <br />of 1986, and did fall under the provisions of the temporary appropriations. <br />Mr. Tallon, Chairman Building, Zoning and Development Committee reported: <br />1) BZD Committee met on March 26th at 7:30 P.M. In attendance were Mr. Tallon, <br />Mr. Rademaker, Mr. McDermott from Engineering Department and Mr. Sanker from <br />the Building Department. Committee discussed the following requests: <br />a. Cheradon Plaza III, southeast corner of Dover Center Road and <br />Brookpark Extension. .Proposal to construct retail shopping center. Approved by <br />Planning Commission on March 24th and ARB on March 11th. BZD Committee, with the <br />concurrence of Mr. DiBendetto, the owner, added a fence to the southwest corner <br />of the property, extending east from the west property line, approximately fifty <br />feet; fence will be six feet high. Mr. Tallon moved Council approve said retail <br />shopping center at Cheradon Plaza III, second by Mr. Rademaker, unanimously approved. <br />b. Ron's North Olmsted Beverage Drive Through and Video Store, <br />30700 Lorain Road. Proposal to change exterior material on southeast elevation to <br />metal; brick was previously approved. Proposal approved by Planning Commission on <br />March 10th and ARB on March 18th. Committee concurs with Planning Commission rec- <br />ommendation to change exterior material from metal to wood, which will give the <br />appearance of rough sawn cedar. BZD Committee recommends all outside lighting to <br />be down directional and maintained on the property. Mr. Tallon moved Council approve <br />said proposal, second by Mr. Rademaker, unanimously approved. <br />c. Caron Properties, 23755 Lorain Road, proposal to renovate and <br />add to off ice building. Approved by Planning Commission on March 10th and ARB on <br />March 18th. BZD Committee requested, and. owner agreed, to eliminate the first <br />parking space on the east side of the drive and relocate the front sign to meet <br />the city's code. Mr. Tallon moved Council approve said proposal, second by <br />Mr. Rademaker, unanimously approved. <br />d. Waghray Office Building, 24693 Lorain Road, proposal to renovate <br />and add to existing building to convert to medical off ice building. Special permit <br />granted by Board of Zoning Appeals on March 4th; approved by Planning Commission on <br />March 10th and by ARB on March 18th. BZD Committee recommends all exterior lighting <br />must be down lighting and maintained on the property.
