Council Minutes of 1/20/87 -2- <br />Law Director Gareau reported: 1) Has filed the appeal in the Romp Case; has <br />ordered the transcript and that should be finished within the next forty days. <br />2) Has consulted with alighting expert regarding the Halleen Case; eommuni- <br />cated with Halleen's attorney; is .presently trying to arrange a date for the <br />expert to visit the property. <br />3) The Fact Finder for the police negotiations has issued a report; will be <br />going into fact finding for the Fire Department tomorrow. <br />Finance Director Boyle reported: 1) In November, the Ohio Legislature passed <br />legislation with respect to early retirement. Since .there is quite a bit in- <br />volved, will be sending Mary Kay Lilly, Finance Department, and Tom Fabek, <br />Administrative Assistant, to Columbus to learn more. about this and report back <br />so that some kind of worthwhile. package can be developed or the entire idea be <br />rejected. <br />2) Will also be sending someone to a class for explanation of the new W-4 Farms; <br />plans to more or less fill them out for the employees and let .them look them <br />over to see exactly what is being withheld from their salaries; at this time any <br />revisions. can be made. <br />3) Has advised the County Treasurer that the city wants to participate in the <br />real estate and personal property tax advance progxam. We will then receive <br />personal property taxes and real estate taxes earlier; more than. likely through <br />wire transfers. This will help the cash flow problem and .allow investment prior <br />to waiting until the end of the year. <br />Mr. Wilamosky asked the Finance Director if there was any kind of a timetable <br />with respect to when the W-4's would be made available to .the employees; Mr. <br />Boyle responded they are available now and in fact are being used. <br />Mr. Wilamosky, Chairman Finance Committee reported: 1} Committee met on Janu- <br />ary 14th and 19th. Director Cunningham was in attendance on January 14th as <br />well as other members of council, including Mr, Lackey and Mr. McKay. Both <br />meetings were to assimilate the Mayor's appropriation recommendations into line <br />item form; committee is still looking at the figures and will continue to re- <br />port on the progress being made, <br />Mr. O'Grady, Chairman Public Safety, Health and Welfare Committee reported: <br />1) Moved council have na objection to the issuance of an F-2 permit for the <br />Greater Cleveland Crime Prevention Committee, for a function to be held on <br />Saturday, February 21, 1987, at 29271 Lorain. Road, North Olmsted, Ohio, second <br />by Mr. Wilamosky, unanimously approved. <br />2} Moved council have no objection to the issuance of a D-5-B permit for Fair- <br />view Lounge, Incorporated, dba P. J. Mclntyre's Irish Pub and Restaurant, <br />Store A-135, Great Northern Mall, North Olmsted, Ohio, second by Mr. Wilamosky, <br />unanimously approved. <br />Mr. Logan, Chairman Intro -Governmental Relations anal Legislative Committee <br />reported: 1) Committee met. on January 14th to discuss the rules of council; <br />at this meeting, about half of .the rules were discussed; will be making <br />recommendations as to changes after the next meeting, to be announced later <br />this evening. <br />President Saringer reported that a Council-of-the-1 <br />held on January 15th at which time representatives <br />discussed the ash problem at the Treatment Plant. <br />the problem; the project will be eligible for 1007 <br />will support legislation to authorize correction. <br />w.n ~ ..._,,. .,_ ,. ~, .
