MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />SEPTEMBER 6, 1988 <br />Present: President Janet Saringer, Councilwoman Babas, Councilmen <br />Boehmer, Bohlmann, McKay, O'Grady, Tallon. <br />Also present: Mayor Yvonne Petrigac, Law Director Michael Gareau, Finance <br />Director Edward Boyle, Clerk of Council Florence Campbell. <br />Absent: Councilman Wiiamosky. <br />Meeting was called to order by President Saringer at 8:00 P.M., in Council <br />Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to loin Members of Council in reciting <br />the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br />Minutes of the Council Meeti~a of July 5th, 6th, 14th, 18th and 14th as <br />well as August 11th,' 198~l, were approved. <br />Mayor Petrigac reported: 1) County Coastssioners have met with some area <br />mayors to establish a County Plaanmg Comm~tission instead of a Regional <br />Planning Commission ai~c:e ao many Cuyahoga County communities now have in- <br />dividual Planning Departm~anta. T1~e restructuring is addressed in the Ohio <br />Revised Code and the ce~a~eisaios will consist of eight mayors and three county <br />appointments. The Mayors axed Managers Association moved to agree with this <br />suggestion and more i~aformation xill become available in the next month or so. <br />2) Mr. Robert Gallowaty has resigned frcmi the Board of Building Code of Appeals; <br />also, an architect is still ceded to sere on the Architectural Review Board; <br />recommendations to fill these vaca~cie~ should be forwarded to the mayor's <br />office. The resume of Marilp~ &a~stsom has been forwarded to the Legislation <br />Committee Chairman as a candidate to serve on the Department of Human Re- <br />sources Advisory Board. <br />3) All members of council a~ well as local residents have been notified of an <br />increase in cable rates; only two compl:rots have been received. <br />4) The Homecoming Parade will be televised on cable at 7 P.M., Thursday evening, <br />for those who missed it this evenits$. <br />S) Bid openings for Porter Road wiii be held tomorrow; a draft of the proposed <br />legislation for the portion from Lorain Road to 1480 has been forwarded to the <br />Law Department so as to have it ready in the event of the passage of the <br />Crocker/Stearns Extension. The county will utilize federal funds for 75~ of <br />the construction and right-of-way; city will pay lox of that construction and <br />all of the engineering; 4OX of the cost of preparation of plans and specs will <br />be the city's. <br />6) In the past, NOACA has prepared surveys for all cities regarding salaries <br />of officials, PERS, hospital plans., etc., which many cities use when they enter <br />into negotiations. The charge for this survey has been $275 however the fee <br />will be raised to $370. Since North Olmsted can call various cities and get <br />information on its own, the Mayor does not recommend that the city subscribe <br />for this particular survey Chis year. <br />7) This morning's edition of the Plain Dealer has a very positive article by <br />Norman Lang on Page 11A with regard to the City of North Olmsted; feels it is <br />a definite plus for the city. <br />,~.~. <br />
