MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />JULY 5, 1988 <br />Present: President Janet Saringer, Councilwoman Bahas, Councilmen Boehmer, <br />Bohlmann, McKay, O'Grady, Tallon, Wilamosky. <br />Also .present: Mayor Yvonne Petrigac, Law Director Michael Gareau, Finance <br />Director Edward Boyle/Acting Clerk of Council. <br />Meeting was called to order by President Saringer at 8:10 P.M., in Council <br />Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Members of Council in reciting the <br />Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br />Minutes of the Council Meeting of June 21, 1988, were approved. <br />President Saringer announced: 1) There will be a Special Council Meeting to- <br />morrow evening, at 8:15 P.M., with respect to Ordinance No. 88-80. <br />2) Ordinance No. 88-27 has been removed from the agenda and placed back into <br />the BZD Committee. <br />3) Ordinance No. 88-87 has been added to the agenda and suspension of the rule <br />requiring three readings will be requested. <br />Mayor Petrigac reported: 1) On June 29th, members of the administration met with <br />personnel from the Cuyahoga County Board of Health, as well as Metro Parks, to <br />address the insect problem. The long range goal is to establish an effective <br />program that can be used to combat the mosquito larvae in early Spring men it <br />is easier to control without harming other insects such as honey bees. Ways to <br />reduce the mosquito population in the Summer are also to be investigated. Will <br />be meeting with representatives of the state as well as again with the county and <br />Metro Parks people. <br />2) North Olmsted is one of six communities involved in exploring ideas to solve <br />solid waste disposal. Some mayors will be traveling out of state at the end of <br />July to look at a facility that is successful in its operation. All six mayors <br />have decided that a citizens' committee should be formed to give input as all <br />options regarding this facility are investigated. Each mayor and each council <br />is to appoint a representative to serve on this citizens' committee. Mayor Petrigac <br />has sent a letter to the League of Women Voters, asking them to select a person to <br />serve as her appointment to this committee; will expect to hear from President <br />Saringer on council's appointment. <br />3) Homeowners should be receiving their 1988 reappraisal notice the week of July <br />11th; a community meeting has been set for July 25th and 26th at North Olmsted <br />High School. <br />President Saringer advised that she has appointed Councilman Dean McKay to serve <br />on the citizens' committee since he is.Chairman of the Environmental Control <br />Committee; President Saringer will serve as alternate in the event of Mr. McKay's <br />absence. <br />
