MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />MARCH 15, 1988 <br />Present: President Janet Saringer, Councilwoman Bahas, Councilmen Boehmer, <br />Bohlmann, McKay, O'Grady, Tallon, Wilamosky, <br />Also present: Mayor Yvonne Petrigac, Law Director Michael. Gareau, Finance <br />Director Edward Boyle, Clerk of Council Florence Campbell. <br />Meeting was called to order by President Saringer at 8:00 P.M „ in Council <br />Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted,. Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Members of Council in reciting the <br />Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br />President Saringer welcomed back Clerk Campbell after a six week sick leave period. <br />Mayor Petrigac .reported: 1) City of North Olmsted hosted .the State Mite Hockey <br />Tournament at the Rec Complex; commended Bill Fisher for the outstanding job he <br />did. <br />2) Forester Dave Wendell and Mayor attended an all-day seminar on landscapting, <br />tree care and general. park beautification. On April. 27th, a Norway spruce will <br />be planted at North Olmsted Park to celebrate Arbor Day. This will be the kick- <br />off of an on-going program to beautify city property to be totally funded by <br />residents, businesses and organizations within the city. <br />3) Finance Director Boyle and Mayor represented North. Olmsted as one of the <br />twelve cities selected by the Citizens League Governmental Research Institution <br />to discuss the impact of federal funding cuts and tax reform on local government <br />services. <br />4) Received a petition from property owners on south Canterbury Road requesting <br />that this section be vacated; has discussed this with Councilman McKay who agrees <br />the section should be vacated. Would like council"s input on this proposal. <br />5) Senate Bill 367 is expected to be voted on Wednesday; this is the bill that <br />prevents municipal corporations from adopting ordinances which would provide for <br />more strict regulations and deals mostly with phosphates. <br />6) City has gone out for bids on eight police vehicles; bid opening is March 28th <br />at noon. <br />7) Fitch Road, 500' north of Cook Road intersection, is being worked on; traffic <br />will be detoured for approximatley one week. <br />8) Mayor attended a Land Use Planning Course, paid for by CIC; speakers were experts <br />in land use planning and lawyers who specialized in zoning and planning issues. <br />Mayor gave a detailed report on items covered by this course. <br />9) City has received its reimbursement check from. the county, for 911, in the <br />amount of $18,243. <br />10) The Mayor's ball was a very successful fund raiser and Mayor Petrigac will <br />be presenting a check for over $1,000 to Tom Fattler, Rec Complex Manager. <br />11) Would like to attend a meeting of the Streets and Drainage Committee in order <br />to discuss the Deerfield drainage problem. <br />Mr. Wilamosky asked if the Mayor had any further information with respect to a <br />Recreational Impact Fee for new construction. which had been talked about some <br />months ago. Mayor responded that she had discussed it very briefly with Law <br />Director Gareau; is attempting to gather some sample legislation from other <br />cities. Discussion continued. <br /> <br />
