Council Minutes of 1/.5./88 !4- <br />Audience participation: <br />'~ Bill Lackey, 5782 Burns Road, stated that as a former member of the Cable TV <br />~~ Advisory Board, he had received numerous complaints during the past weekend <br />with respect to poor reception on Channel 3; complaints about phone calls to <br />the local office being routed through Strongsville and then through Garfield <br />Heights; the residents' needs are not being met. President Saringer advised <br />that this situation had been discussed in caucus just prior to tonight's meeting <br />and she will be scheduling a future meeting to discuss this problem. Mayor <br />Petrigac advised that she has also received complaints; has talked with Mr. Coplan, <br />Manager of the entire Cablevision operation, as well as Mrs. Fox, their Public <br />Relations Officer. Mayor Petrigac will schedule a meeting with Cablevision <br />representatives, the administration, and members of council to discuss all the <br />problems mentioned as well as North Olmsted's access to the TV Community Bulletin <br />Board; will advise council of date and time. Mr. Tallon suggested that the lack <br />of response to resident's requests for repairs to their sets and inability to con- <br />tact anyone for a service call should also be addressed at the meeting. <br />LEGISLATION: <br />Resolution No. 87-119 introduced by Mr. O'Grady was given its third reading. A <br />resolution authorizing the Director of Public Service to advertise for bids for <br />250 tons of cinders, and authorizing the Mayor to contract for same, and declaring <br />an emergency, as amended. Mr. O'Grady moved for adoption, second by Mr. Bohlmann, <br />unanimously approved. Resolution No. 87-119 adopted. <br />Ordinance No. 87-134 introduced by Mr. O'Grady was given its second reading. An <br />ordinance rescinding Ordinance No. 72-38 which granted free transportation on the <br />North Olmsted Municipal Bus Line to retired full-time employees of the City of <br />North Olmsted, and declaring an emergency. <br />Ordinance No. 87-136 introduced by Mr. Wilamosky was given its second reading. An <br />ordinance adopting a new and revised Chapter 1321 of the Codified Ordinances en- <br />titled, "Permit and Inspection Fees", and declaring an emergency. <br />Ordinance No. 88-1 introduced by Mayor Petrigac was given its first reading. An <br />ordinance to provide a better driving environment to persons using our city <br />streets and highways by adopting the Ohio Manual of Uniform Traffic Control De- <br />vices, and declaring an emergency. Referred to Safety Committee. <br />Ordinance No. 88-2 introduced by Mr. Wilamosky was given its first reading. An <br />ordinance establishing the compensation to be paid to all hourly employees em- <br />ployed by the North Olmsted Municipal Bus Line, and declaring an emergency. Re- <br />ferred to Finance Committee. <br />Ordinance No. 88-3 introduced by Mr. McKay was given its-first reading. An ordin- <br />ance enacting a new Chapter 759 of the Codified Ordinances of the City of North <br />Olmsted to provide for registration of users of pesticides and pesticide products <br />and far notification to registered residents, and declaring an emergency. Referred <br />to Environmental Control Committee. <br />Miscellaneous business: <br />President Saringer requested Chairman Boehmer to discuss the placement of an <br />emergency phone at 1480 and Clague Road now that the 911 System has been imple- <br />~. mented, at the next Safety Committee Meeting. <br /> <br />
