Council Minutes of 1/5/88
-5-
Miscellaneous business (cont'd):
Mr. Bohlmann scheduled a Legislative Committee Meeting for Wednesday, January 13th,
'~. at 8 P.M., to discuss Ordinance Nos. 87-100, 87-134 and 87-136 as well as to
interview Mr. Britton for a seat on the Planning Commission; requested Building
Commissioner Conway and Service Director Noble to be in attendance.
Mr. Wilamosky asked President Saringer to schedule a Council-as-a-Whole Committee
Meeting for Monday, January 18th, at 8 P.M., to discuss the hiring of a City
Planner; requested the attendance of Law Director Gareau.
Mr. Wilamosky scheduled a Finance Committee Meeting for Wednesday, January 20th,
at 8 P.M., to discuss Ordinance No. 87-130 - the PERS Pickup Program, and re-
quested the attendance of Mayor Petrigac, Law Director Gareau, Finance Director
Boyle and any interested member of council.
Mr. Boehmer scheduled a Safety Committee Meeting for Monday, January 11th, at
8 o'clock.
Mr. McKay scheduled an Environmental Control Committee Meeting for Monday,
January 11th, immediately following the Safety Committee Meeting.
Mr. Tallon scheduled a BZD Committee Meeting for Thursday, January 28th, at
7:30 P.M., with City Engineer and Building Commissioner in attendance.
Mr. Wilamosky asked the Law Director for a brief summary regarding the Nightfall
Case. Law Director Gareau responded that affidavits had been prepared and submitted
to the Police Department; since he had been at another trial for ten days, did not
know if they had been signed and returned to the Law Department. On at least four
occasions, notified the property owner of the violation. notices - giving him the
opportunity to purge. himself of contempt; it did not seem to make any difference.
Communicated with the lawyer and that did not do any good either. The only alter-
native left is to go back into court and ask that the owner be found in contempt
and let the judge do what he has to do as far as closing him down or whatever.
Mr. Wilamosky asked what action the judge was apt to take. Law Director Gareau
responded that it was up to the judge, however, it is a violation of a court order
and Judge McAllister is a "no nonsense" judge and he feels that some action will
be taken within the next couple of weeks.
The agenda being completed and there being no further business, President Saringer
adjourned the Council Meeting at 8:50 P.M.
Florence E. Campbell, erk of Council

~, ,. z ,..
