MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />MAY 3, 1989 <br />Present: President Janet Saringer, Councilwoman Bahas, Councilmen <br />Boehmer, Bohlmann, McKay, O'Grady, Tallon, Wilamosky. <br />Also present: Mayor Yvonne Petrigac, Law Director Michael Gareau, Finance <br />Director Edward Boyle, Clerk of Council Florence Campbell. <br />Meeting was called to order by President Saringer at 8:00 P,M., in Council <br />Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio, <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Members of Council in reciting <br />the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, <br />Minutes of Special Council Meeting of April 17, 1989, were approved. <br />Minutes of Regular Council Meeting of April 18, 1989, were approved. <br />Minutes of Special Council Meeting of April 19, 1989, were approved. <br />Mayor Petrigac reported: 1) Requests Legislation Committee to confirm the <br />appointment of Mr. Sohn to the Architectural Review Board for a term ending <br />December 31, 1989. <br />2) Law Director Gareau, Treatment Plant Superintendent Crider and Mayor met with <br />representatives from Squire, Sanders and Dempsey and Dalton/Newport to discuss <br />the Wastewater Treatment contract; Law Director will report out. <br />3) Forester Wendell, Service Director Noble and Mayor attended Tree City award <br />ceremonies in Norwalk; North Olmsted will be considered as Host City for 1992. <br />4) North Olmsted Citizens' Committee met Wednesday to discuss solid waste and <br />recycling; it was an organizational meeting and very informative. <br />5) Tree Planting Ceremony was held on Tuesday, outside City Hall, with the <br />planting of a tree in the Old Town Hall area. Winner of the Arbor Day contest <br />was Erin Trapp from Pine School, <br />6) Complimented council on the cooperative meeting held with Westlake. <br />7) Thanked Tom Fattlar and his committee for their successful campaign in getting <br />Issue 7 passed; thanked the residents for their support. <br />8) Meeting was held with Fairview Mayor Gaul and his committee with respect to <br />the money still owed North Olmsted and to begin negotiations of a new contract. <br />A dispute over the figures was worked out; after review, Mayor Gaul will contact <br />Mayor Petrigac and set up another meeting to begin negotiations. <br />9) Administration is in the process of developing a city-wide drug program, <br />Law Director Gareau reported: 1) Administration did meet with Squire, Sanders <br />and Dempsey with respect to the license of the Sewage Treatment Plant; has con- <br />ferred back and forth; briefs are being filed; city has hired a consultant to <br />testify for the city and the case is going forward, possibly within the next week. <br />2) Negotiating team met with respect to upcoming negotiations for AFSCME; has <br />suggested that a city council member sit in on the wage negotiations for the <br />purpose of acting as a liaison between the negotiators and council, Full details <br />of the negotiations, reported by the liaison councilman, will be helpful to <br />council since, by charter, council sets the wages. <br />
