MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />FEBRUARY 21, 1989 <br />Present: President Janet Saringer, Councilwoman Bahas, (present at <br />9:05 P.M.), Councilmen Boehmer, Bohlmann, McKay, O'Grady, <br />Tallon, Wilamosky. <br />Also present: Mayor Yvonne Petrigac, Law Director Michael Gareau, Finance <br />Director Edward Boyle, Clerk of Council Florence Campbell. <br />Meeting was called to order by President Saringer at 8:10 P.M., in Council <br />Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Members of Council in reciting <br />the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br />Minutes of Council Meeting of February 6, 1989, were approved as corrected: <br />Page 2, Paragraph Three of Mr. O'Grady's Cable Advisory Commission Report <br />should read,."Any complaints with respect to the current system should be <br />brought to the attention of Ric Coplan, at Cablevision, or to Dottie Fox, <br />the Public Relations Director at Cablevision." <br />President Saringer apologized for the delay in starting tonight's meeting and <br />reported: 1) Ordinance No. 89-15, with respect to Cabin/Senior Center fees, <br />will be added to tonight's agenda. <br />2) There is a possibility that Mrs. Bahas will not be in attendance since <br />there has been a death in the family. <br />Mayor Petrigac reported: 1) The census will officially begin on April 1, 1990, <br />with materials mailed as promotion kits to all cities in the near future. <br />2) North Olmsted has again been selected as Tree City, USA; administration is <br />in the process of planning Arbor Day Foundation Celebration. <br />3) Director Copeland, Councilman O'Grady and the Mayor attended a seminar, <br />sponsored by the Community Block Grant Department, covering housing, the <br />Cuyahoga Plan, etc. Councilman O'Grady will report out in more detail during <br />his report. The ordinance that must be done, by the city, is an occupancy code; <br />North Olmsted is one of the few cities that does not have one. <br />4) The First Annual Retirement Party will be Thursday evening. <br />5) Budget and Management Director Cunningham attended a seminar today on Code <br />Section 89, non-discriminative rules for. health and welfare plan, which was <br />sponsored by Arthur Young and Company. <br />6) Signed an agreement with the county to participate in the Cuyahoga Major <br />Emergency Management Plan. <br />7) Attended the Recreation Commission Meeting to discuss the levy pros and cons <br />and the commission members meet with council, in caucus, this evening. <br />8) At the Recreation Commission Meeting, the administration presented a plan <br />for the Memorial Park and will ask the Service Director to give the details. <br />A proposal to include a monument for the fourteen Ohioans killed in Beirut in <br />1983 was presented to the commission as well. <br />Service Director Noble displayed a color rendering of the proposed Memorial <br />Park and gave a brief description of same. <br /> <br />
