MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />JANUARY 3, 1989 <br /> <br />Present: President Pro Tem Ronald Tallon, Councilmen Boehmer, Bohlmann, <br />McKay, O'Grady, Wilamosky. <br />Also present: Law Director Michael Gareau, Finance Director Edward Boyle, <br />Clerk of Council Florence Campbell. <br />Absent: President Saringer, Councilwoman Bahas. <br />Meeting was called to order by President Pro Tem Tallon at 8:00 P.M., in <br />Council Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Members of Council in reciting <br />the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br />Minutes of Council Meeting of December 20, 1988, were approved. <br />President Pro Tem Tallon reported: President Saringer is still recuperating <br />from recent surgery and hopefully will be in attendance at the next regular <br />council meeting; Councilwoman Bahas is out of town until after the funeral <br />of her mother who recently passed away. <br />2) Ordinance No. 88-112 has been removed from tonight's agenda as requested <br />by Councilman McKay. <br />3) Councilman Wilamosky will be requesting suspension of the rule requiring <br />three readings, as well as referral to committee, on Ordinance No. 89-1. <br />Law Director Gareau reported: 1) Has filed a notice of appeal to the Supreme <br />Court of the State of Ohio with respect to the Renaissance Case. <br />2) The seventeen law directors of the cities. impacted by the EPA's demand rela- <br />tive to refuse dumped in Garfield Heights have met and reached a tentative <br />agreement which will be submitted to the respective city councils to settle <br />this dispute. Law Director Gareau will be communicating with each council <br />member by letter since public discussions cannot be held at this time due <br />to the delicate negotiations now taking place. <br />3) Directors Becker and Cunningham, Chief Marsh. and Law Director have concluded <br />negotiations with the Police Department; details are presently being worked out <br />in contract form; will be meeting with Mayor Petrigac on Thursday, after which, <br />the final draft contract will be presented to council for consideration. <br />Finance Director Boyle reported: 1) Audit of 1988 began today with representa- <br />tives of Arthur Young observing the inventories at Bus Line, Service Department <br />and Recreation. This will be the last year of the five year contract with <br />Arthur Young; Auditor of State prohibits any extension of this contract so <br />the city will be going out for bids for 1989, 1990 and 1991, with options for <br />1992 and 1993, with another auditing firm. <br />2) Has received $31,729.32 from the City of Westlake covering half of the Maple <br />Ridge Road bill. <br />~r~..aan ~<. ,... r, <br />
