a~ <br />,r MINUTES OF TEIE MEETII~ OF TEIE COUNCIL <br />~~~'"' OF T[~ CITY OF NORTH OLMSTID <br />DECEMBER 4, 1990 <br />Present: Council President Boehmer, Council Members Leonard, <br />McKay, Nashar, O'Grady, Saringer, Tallon. <br />Also Present: Law Director Michael Gareau, Finance Director James <br />Burns, Acting Clerk Barbara Seman. <br />Absent: Council Member Bahas. <br />President Boehmer called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council <br />Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, OH. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the <br />Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br />Minutes of the Council Meeting of September 18, 1990 were approved as <br />corrected. <br />Minutes of the Council feting of October 2, 1990 were approved. <br />Minutes of the Council Meeting of October 16, 1990 were approved. <br />President Boehmer reminded everyone that the City's tree lighting <br />ceremony would be held on Thursday, December 6, at 7:30 p.m. <br />Refreshments will be served and everyone is welcome. <br />President Boehmer armounced that Ordinance No. 90-166 would be added to <br />the agenda and would be passed tinder suspension of the rules. <br />Nancy Wlodarski, Administrative Assistant to the Mayor, presented a <br />Proclamation to Claudia Eklund, a representative of Mothers Against <br />Drunk Driving (MADD). The Proclamation designated December 9 through <br />December 15 as Drunk and Drugged Driving Awareness Week. Mrs. Eklund <br />was recognized by the Administration, Council, and the audience. <br />Mr. Bohlmann reported for Mayor Boyle: 1) Fire Chief John VanKuren will <br />retire effective February 1, 1991. Chief VanKuren joined our Fire <br />Department on July 16, 1964; he became Chief on March 23, 1981. We <br />would like to extend our very best wishes to him on his retirement; he <br />will certainly be missed. <br />2) A Fire Chief promotional exam consisting of written and oral tests <br />will be administered on January 10 and January 12. <br />3) A promotional test for the position of Fire Lieutenant was <br />administered on October 3; Lt. Schroeder will be sworn in sometime the <br />latter part of this month. <br />4) A new firefighter, Ted Schuler, was sworn in an November 26. <br />5) A promotional test for the position of Police Lieutenant was <br />administered on November 12; Frank Viola will be promoted to that <br />position. <br />1 <br /> <br />
