Council Minutes of 11/20/90 <br />5) A new fire officer will be sworn in next week. <br />6) A holiday greeting caxd for our soldiers and sailors in the Persian <br />Gulf is ~ display in the lobby and everyone is invited to sign it. <br />This is part of the Orange Ribbon Campaign which woe helped kick off at <br />the last Council meeting. <br />Mr. McKay asked the Mayor if the private firm hired to clean the Rec. <br />Center waS permanent. <br />Mayor Boyle replied that the firm had been cleaning parts of the Rec. <br />Center all year; they have dome a good job and this will become <br />permanent. Also, hiring a private firm has been cost effective. <br />Law Director Gareau reported: 1) Last week, he and the Assistant Law <br />Director met with Judge John F. Corrigan of the Court of Appeals to <br />discuss the status call of Cater vs. the City of North Olmsted. An <br />answer in this case has been filed; the Court has given a schedule of <br />early December to come up with an agreed statement of evidence. All <br />briefs should be in by the end of January. <br />2) Mr. Gareau, Council Members Nashar and O'Grady, two police officers, <br />and a citizen attended the hearing on Star Lounge. hopefully, the <br />evidence and testimony presented will be sufficient to deny the issuance <br />of the renewal permit. <br />Finance Director Burns reported: 1) Ordinances 90-158, 90-159 will be <br />passed under suspension of the rules tonight. Ordinance 90-158 <br />certifies the property tax rates to the County; Ordinance 90-159 directs <br />the County to pay the City the tax monies that it collects. <br />2) Has received the proposal from IBM and New World Systems on a <br />computer upgrade and change in programming. This will be referred to <br />the Finance Committee. <br />Mrs. Saringer, Chairperson of the Building, Zoning and Development <br />Committee reported: 1) The Cornnittee met on November 19 with Council- <br />As-A-Whole to discuss the Halleen Chevrolet proposal. Halleen wants to <br />waive their right to display and store vehicles on the existing <br />residentially zoned lot which they awn on East Park Drive and which is <br />adjacent to their dealership for the right to store and display vehicles <br />on the property which they awn to the rear of the second home down on <br />East Park Drive fran the dealership. Council had no objection but wants <br />to confer with the Law Director and Mr. Leonard. If there would be a <br />zoning change, a Public Hearing will be held. At that time, Council <br />would suggest that Halleen have the proper mounding and fencing and <br />restrictions to be used for parking only. <br />2) In attendance at the regular BZD Committee were Building Commissioner <br />Conway, Assistant Engineer McDermott, Service Director Boh]mann, and <br />Committe Members Tallon and O'Grady. <br />a. Mr. McDermott called to the Commi.ttee's attention a section of <br />approximately 565 feet of road to the Westlake corporate line of the <br />North Olmsted Rosewood Estates subdivision which was never dedicated. <br />Legislation to have this portion of the road dedicated has been <br />requested. <br />2 <br /> <br />
