MINUTES OF PUBLIC HEARING
I~VIIKBER 7, 1990
7:00 P.M.
President Boehmer called the Public Hearing to order at 7:03 p.m.
President Boehmer announced that the Public Hearing would cover
Ordinance No. 90-124 and Ordinance No. 90-107.
Ordinance No. 90-124. An ordinance providing for the amendment of the
Zone Map of the City of North Olmsted, which Zone Map is part of the
Zoning Code of the City of North Olmsted, by changing the premises
hereinafter described from Single Residence B District to General Retail
Business District.
Audience Participation:
There were no comments made on Ordinance No. 90-124.
Ordinance No. 90-107. An ordinance providing for the amendment of the
Zone Map of the City of North Olmsted, which Zone Map is part of the
Zoning Code of the City of North Olmsted, by changing the premises
hereinafter described from Single Residence A District to Mixed Use
District A.
Audience Partici ation:
Eileen Sc er, 22H Clareshire, commented that she and other
residents were asking Council's help to defeat Ordinance 90-107. The
residents have a true concern for their home values; also, the entire
comnnnity's patience is being stretched to the limit. Four years ago, a
petition with 873 names had been presented to Council. This petition
asked Council to vote No on this rezoning issue. Mr. Biskind, at that
time, chose to shelve the issue. The residents tonight are presenting a
new petition containing names of 1,049 residents who are against this
rezoning. In canvassing the City, residents said they were completely
dissatisfied with the continued commercialism of their City; many people
are sorry they live here; others are sorry they moved here; and still
others say, if the chance wanes, they will move. The residents are
asking Council to listen to the voices of the people.
Maureen Diver, 24711 Mitchell Drive, feels that North OLnsted is
reaching its capacity as a concrete city. She believes that the zoning
that is now being proposed for the Columbia Road and Country Club area
is inconsistent with the area. There are residential Mmes across the
street; there are residential homes to the side of Country Club Blvd.;
there are multi-family townhouses and apartments in Clareshire,
Jefferson Place, and Colebrook Condominiums. The residents are unhappy
and wish they had had an opportunity for input sooner.
Pat Charboneau, 24801 Maple Ridge, submitted pictures to Council showing
the volume of traffic on Country Club and Columbia Road at 3:30 in the
afternoon. She feels the area cannot handle any more traffic.
...~, ~~~2nr~w*ursnr~r.!w~s?~wme~v rr ::r.
