MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTID SEPTEMBER 4, 1990 Present: Council President Boehmer, Council Members Bahas, Leonard, Nashar, O'Grady, Saringer, Tallon. Also Present: Mayor Edward Boyle, Law Director Michael Gareau, Finance Director and Acting Clerk of Council James Burns. Absent: Councilman McKay. President Boehmer called the meeting to order at 8:14 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. President Boehmer announced the following changes in the agenda: Ordinances 90-109 to 90-120 will be added to the agenda aixl passed under suspension of the rules; Ordinances 90-108, 90-96, 90-98 will be passed under suspension of the rules. Mayor Boyle reported: 1) Mrs. Eleanor Walther was presented with a proclamation recognizing her hard work acid dedication as a teacher and congratulating her on being named Teacher of the Year by the North Olmsted Rotary Club. 2) Later this month, RTA Route 98 will be extended along Brookpark Road to Great Northern extension as a result of suggestions submitted by NOMBL employees. 3) RTA has given us a timetable on the new bus garage: Mid-1991, identify the size and scope of the garage; late 1991, program the garage into the Regional Transportation Improvement Program; 1992, design garage and purchase land; 1993, earliest date for construction; 1995, latest date for construction. 4) RTA is considering several new routes to be operated by NOMBL: express routes down I-480 and I-90 servicing downtown and University Circle; R~kside and I-77 service to both the North Olmsted and Westlake park and rides; a route between North Olmsted and Berea; a route to Independence via Snow Road. Negotiations will soon begin with Lorain County Transit for routes to Midway Mall. All these suggestions were made by NOMBL employees. 5) We are currently investigating funding sources to improve and expand the nutrition program at the Senior Genter. 6) Dover Lift Station repairs are scheduled to be completed in the next two weeks. We are working on alleviating excessive odor problems at the Waste Water Treatment Plant. Fan blades, approximate cost of $12,000, will soon need to be replaced. 7) Work on North Park will resume this week. 8) Will meet with the City of Cleveland this week to insure all repairs have been made after the water line clean-up project on Columbia, Dover Center, and Lorain Ave. 1
