Council minutes of 9/4/90
9) The West Shore cities are considering a joint purchasing agreement to
obtain lower prices on salt, street materials, equipment, etc.
10) The Fire Department has been instructed to begin the process of
replacing the aerial truck because it is currently in its twenty-first
year of use. A multi-use type vehicle--pumper arui serial truck--will
probably be the most efficient.
11) A meeting was held with West Shore Mayors and Service Directors
regarding solid waste r~noval. programs. None of the cities was
enthusiastic about the $1.20 per tan charge to fund the policy board to
draw up plans. House Bill 592 has mandated every county to draw up
plans; this will result in 88 different plans throughout the State. It
would be more practical for the State of Ohio to set up regions and
administrate state-wide plans.
12) Our summer work program, coordinated by Christine Allegro, has been
completed; it involved 35 North Olmsted youths who worked in various
departments of the City. Ms. Allegro also coordinated the restitution
program which was expanded this year.
13) The leaf piles at Bradley are being moved to allow more parking
space.
14) The Building and Engineering Departments are working on a new one
hundred year storm flood plain. This investigation should provide
information on the flooding last May.
Law Director Gareau reported: 1) A notice of appeal has been filed in
the AFCSME case where the judge ruled against the City without
notification.
2) The ordinances generated from the Charter Review Committee are on the
agenda tonight.
Mrs. Saringer, Chairperson of the Building, Zoning, and Development
Committee reported: 1) The Cam~ittee met on August 23 with the Building
Commissioner and Assistant Engineer in attendance.
