r <br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />JUNE 5, 1990 <br />Present: President James Boehmer, Council Members Bahas, Leonard, <br />McKay, Nashar, O'Grady, Saringer, Tallon. <br />Also present: Mayor Edward Boyle, Law Director Michael Gareau, Finance <br />Director James Burns, Acting Clerk Kim Vanover. <br />Meeting was called to order by President Boehmer at 8:00 P.M., in Council <br />Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of .the audience were invited to loin Members of Council in reciting <br />the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br />Unedited Minutes of Regular Council Meeting of May 1, 1990, were approved. <br />Unedited Minutes of Special Council Meeting of May 7, 1990, were approved. <br />Unedited Minutes of Special Council Meeting of May 9, 1990, were approved. <br />President Boehmer announced that Ordinance Nos. 90-74, 90-75, 90-76, 90-77, 90-78, <br />90-79 and 90-80 have been added to tonight's agenda; also, suspension of the <br />rule requiring three readings will be requested for Ordinance Nos. 90-65, <br />90-70, 90-71, 90-72 and 90-75. <br />Mrs. Saringer moved council waive Council Rule No. 14 in order that the BZD <br />Committee recommendations would be recognized officially, second by Mr. Tallon, <br />unanimously approved. <br />Mayor Boyle reported: 1) Presented a proclamation to Tom McFadden, Principal, <br />Butternut Elementary School, acknowledging Butternut Elementary School as <br />being one of the nine best elementary schools in the State of Ohio chosen by the <br />Ohio Association of Elementary School Administrators. <br />2) Mayor Boyle also proclaimed the week beginning June 3, 1990, as National <br />Safe Boating Week. <br />3) With respect to the Waste Water Treatment Plant, city is on schedule to. <br />complete the lift station work in August; new pumps will be arriving soon; <br />crews will begin installation of them as well as a system of by-passes. <br />4) Has notified Olmsted Township, Cuyahoga County and the Township's Zoning <br />Board that the city is working on alternate means for correcting the sewer cap <br />and the ban imposed earlier this year. These corrective measures will be <br />based on expected flows determined from the zoning maps. Potential zoning <br />changes should not be tabled based on bans but should be processed immediately. <br />Have asked that they inform the city of any potential changes so flow may be <br />computed accurately and the city can arrive at a measure that would not only <br />correct it for 1990/91 but well into the future of this contract. <br />5) Last week, Chris Allegra, YDP Coordinator,. Department of Human Resources, <br />was honored for her assistance to St. Richard's Elementary School with Junior <br />Achievement. She was active in teaching basic skills about business and back- <br />grounds in government.. She has also begun placing students in the city's <br />Engineering, Recreation and Service Departments through the summer work program. <br />~~~~ <br />
