Council Minutes of 6/5/90 -2- <br />6) Three of the four authorized fire dispatchers have been hired and training <br />has begun this week. This will reduce some of the overtime and help in main- <br />taining proper work schedules at both stations. <br />7) City will be changing its hospital insurance since Blue Cross rates are <br />being raised. Director Wilamosky has reviewed .different proposals and found <br />some lower in cost. New program will go into effect on July 1st and will <br />affect those people on COBRA. Director Wilamosky will be more than willing <br />to answer any questions anyone might have with respect to the changes. Finance <br />Director Burns will be pregaring an ordinance creating a fund to pay the in- <br />surance company and also store money for future expenses. <br />8) The outdoor swiffiing pool at the Rec Complex will be opened on Sunday; <br />the indoor pool will be addressed at a subsequent Finance Committee meeting. <br />9) A community picnic will be held at the Rec Complex on Sunday, between 1:00 P.M. <br />and 4 P.M. Everyone is invited to attend and use all of the facilities. <br />10) On June 21st, a childrens' movie program will be initiated at the gazebo at <br />North Olmsted Park. These shows start at 8:45 P.M; come and enjoy the park as <br />well as the movies. <br />11) Concerts in the Park will begin on June 17th. <br />12) Honors Day at St. Richard's School is Wednesday at which time Amy Tallon will <br />be presented with an award for being the highest recognized student having won <br />awards in writing, services, languages, arts and the Presidential Award. <br />Law Director Gareau reported: 1) Sunset Memorial brief was filed today with the <br />Court of Appeals. <br />2) Faughender brief has been completed and will be presented in the Sixth Circuit <br />Court next week. <br />3) Will be going to Columbus tomorrow, with Service Director Bohlmann, to meet with <br />the Attorney General and members of the EPA regarding the tap-in ban. <br />4) With respect to the snow plow case, where there had been a voluntary dis- <br />missal, it has been refiled and Law Department will be able to have it dismissed <br />again because it is outside the statute of limitations. <br />Finance Director Burns reported: On May 31st, had a pre-closing meeting with <br />Squire, Sanders and Dempsey and representatives of National City Bank. City <br />closed out five notes that had previously been rolled over. These notes will <br />become due on March 5th at which time the city may consider converting them to <br />bonds and carry an interest rate of 6.51%. <br />2) On Friday, will be having the pre-closing meeting for the $340,000 road <br />improvement note authorized by Ordinance No. 90-57; these notes will be sold <br />at 6.42%. <br />Mrs. Saringer, Chairman Building, Zoning and Development Committee reported: <br />1) Met on May 17th with Building Commissioner and Assistant Engineer to discuss <br />the following: <br />a. TGI Friday, 5200 Great Northern Mall; proposal to add fenced-in <br />outdoor eating area. Architect explained the former patio has been enclosed with <br />a greenhouse and a new 900 square foot area is to be fenced in with a wrought iron <br />railing to the east of the greenhouse. Approved by Planning Commission on April 10. <br />Mrs. Saringer moved council approve the TGI Friday proposal as stated above, second <br />by Mr. Tallon, unanimously approved. <br />b. Memory Lane, 29645 Lorain Road; proposal to convert attached <br />garage to retail store. Approved by ARB on April 18th and by Planning Commission <br />on April 24th. Landscape plan includes six-foot crab apple trees and burning <br />bush. Mrs. Saringer moved council approve Memory Lane proposal as stated above, <br />including. submission of drainage plan to Engineering Department, second by Mrs. <br />Bahas, unanimously approved. <br /> <br />
