The $13,000,000 grant that was in
jeopardy at the beginning of the year, due to failure to negotiate the user
fee, is no longer in jeopardy; that portion of the problem has been put to
bed. By this time next year, the I and I study and remedy will have resolved
the entire issue.
2) On April 27th, at 10 A.M., the city will celebrate "Earth Day" and "Arbor Day"
at the Senior Center and North Olmsted Park. This is a combined effort of the
city and the schools. A tree will be planted and this will be the first event
commemorating the city's 175 Anniversary; everyone is invited to attend.
3) Mr. Thomas McIntyre, Vice Chairman of the Charter Review Commission, has
been forced to resign due to health reasons - he will be undergoing heart
surgery later this week at Cleveland Clinic. General Manager Tober has
agreed to have our three old, 1969 buses shipped to RTA for storage and then
combined with their equipment which will go on sale in four to six weeks; proceeds
from their sale will be credited to the. city's account. Relationship between
North Olmsted and RTA has greatly improved, especially since the start of 1990,
due to Mr. Tober and the people he has in his department.
5) Met with representatives from the Ohio Department of Transportation on April
13th with respect to city-wide signalization and State Route 252 -from Lorain
Road to Butternut Ridge Road. Not much has happened with respect to the signali-
zation; Mr. Gallito advised that there had been some problems with engineering
and with some of the information being processed. Service Director Bohlmann has
made the proper corrections and the latest information from Mr. Gallito is that
the project has been extended; completion date is probably going to be 1992 or 1993.
