i MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED MARCH 6, 1990 Present: President James Boehmer, Councilwomen Bahas and Saringer, Councilmen Leonard, McKay, Nashar, O'Grady, Tallon. Also present: Mayor Edward Boyle, Law Director Michael Gareau, Finance Director James Burns, Clerk of Council Florence Campbell. Meeting was called to order by President Boehmer at 8:00 P.M., in Council Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted. Members of the audience were invited to loin Members of Council in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag lead by Members of Boy Scout Troop 664. Minutes of the Council Meeting of February 20, 1990, were approved. President Boehmer welcomed back Councilwoman Bahas who had recently been hospitalized as well as Councilman Leonard who had been out of town. President Boehmer welcomed the leaders and members of Boy Scout Troop 664 as well as the parents who were present and invited Scout Craig Hatfield to come to the front of the room for the reading of Resolution No. 90-20. LEGISLATION: Resolution No. 90-20 introduced by Mr. McKay on behalf of the Mayor and the entire Council was given its first reading. A resolution commending the achievement of the Eagle Scout Award in Boy Scouting by Craig Hatfield. Mr. McKay moved for suspension of rule requiring three readings as well as referral to committee, second by Mrs. Saringer, unanimously approved. Mr. McKay moved for adoption, second by Mrs. Saringer, unanimously approved. Resolution No. 90-20 adopted and read in its entirety. Eagle Scout Hatfield was recognized and congratulated by members of the audience, administration and council. Mayor Boyle reported: 1) Police Off icer's examination will be held on March 22, 1990; deadline for registering is March 15th. 2) Results of the Police Chief's examination have been announced; Assistant Chief Dennis Sefcek scored highest on the exam, finishing in the upper 407 nationwide: 77 above the norm in administrative knowledge. and 167 above the norm in supervisory knowledge and ability. All candidates were above the national norm which says a lot about the North Olmsted Police Department and the quality of its officers. 3) Hopes to fill the vacancy left by Fire Fighter Butchko's resignation later this month. Also, with respect to the Fire Department, the ambulance that was to be delivered on February 1st has not been delivered. The company was purchased by a parent organization which is now in Chapter 11. The dealer who sold the ambulance to the city has intervened - has hired people to go into the plant to finish the work. If the chassis is ready and the box is mounted within the next two weeks, the city can expect delivery in another five weeks. If this is not the case, then the city will have to go to re- bidding, which could take quite a bit of time, and would be an indication that the city is not going to receive the ambulance it needs or the quality it needs. Will keep council informed.
