The following items here discussed:
a. Resolution 91-151, which pertains to the Rice Ditch. This will help reduce
flooding in the area.
b. Resolution 91-154, which will allow for catch basin, manhole, aril pavements
repairs on 70 streets during 1992. The work will be distributed among all four
wards.
c. Resolution 91-157 is the Phase II improvement for the Park Ridge development.
f. Resolution 91-158 is the improvement of Silverdale, Selhurst, aril Duane Roads.
The Committee recommended approval of all the above ordinances.
Mr. Lind, Chairperson of the Transportation Committee reported that the Committee
would meet at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 18; he would like a representative of
the Engineer's office to attend.
Audience Partici ation
Jay Power, Presi ent of the North Olmsted Firefighters, Local 1267, wanted to
correct two items pertaining to negotiations that had appeared in a local news-
paper. First, the article stated that the North Olmsted Firefighters were
unhappy. Mr. Power disputes this claim; the firefighters are happy aril are
patiently awaiting their new fire station. Second, the article also stated that
the firefighters had not wanted to reopen negotiations when asked to do so by the
City. Mr.-Power said this was a blatant lie; when the City asked to reopen
negotiations, the firefighters complied by setting dates, meeting, and negotiating
in good faith. With regard to the issue of hospitalization, Mr. Power said that
approximately a year and a half ago the City took the direction of taking most
employees out of a "Chevrolet-type" coverage and into a "Cadillac-type" coverage.
Now that this new coverage has increased in price, the City is asking the
employees to contribute. The firefighters understand that health care costs are
rising and have no objection to sharing costs; indeed, they are looking at new
proposals to deal with this matter.
LEGISLATION TO BE TABLED
Or finance o. 1-1 was given its third reading.
