<br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />SEPTEMBER 17, 1991 <br />Present: Council President Boehmer, Council Members Leonard, McKay, <br />Nashar, Tallon. <br />Also Present: Mayor Ed Boyle, Law Director Michael Gareau, Finance Director <br />James Burns, Clerk of Council Barbara Seman. <br />Absent: Council Members Bahas, Lind, Saringer. <br />Council President Boehmer called the meeting to order at 8:04 p.m. in Council <br />Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of <br />Allegiance to the Flag, <br />Mr. BoeYuner announced that Mrs. Bahas and Mr. Lind were ill; Mrs. Beringer had <br />been detained but was expected to arrive soon. Ordinance No. 91-133 would be <br />added to the agenda and would be passed under suspension along with Ordinance <br />Nos. 91-116, 91-119, 91-120, 91-127, 91-128, 91-129. <br />Minutes of the regular meeting of September 3, 1991 were approved as written. <br />Mayor Boyle reported: 1) Our Youth Development Program is offering two special <br />group series beg].rinin~a this month. First, Systematic Training for Effective <br />Parenting which will be a nine-week program held on Tuesday evenings from 7 to <br />8:30 p.m. beginning September 24. The class will be held at the Senior Center <br />aril is geared for parents of teenagers. Second, Children of Divorce which is a <br />ten-+week program for children, grades 3 - 6, focusing o~n academic, social and <br />emotional growth; self-esteem; and ccxnm~nication. This program will also be <br />held at the Senior Center on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.; the first class <br />will be held September 25. Both programs are free to North Olmsted residents; <br />there will be a $10 charge for non-residents. Contact Chris Allegra from our <br />Human Resources Department for more information. <br />2) Because of numerous resident complaints about airplane noise, Administrative <br />Assistant Nancy Wlodarski has contacted Cleveland Hopkins Airport and the <br />Federal Aviation Administration. They have asked that all complaints be <br />directed to either the City of Cleveland, Department of Port Authority, at <br />265-6000 or the Federal Aviation Administration, (312) 694-7272. The City will <br />be keeping a record. of all complaints. Also, we have received a review draft of <br />the aviation demand forecast for Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. We are <br />currently preparing comments about Hopkins' master plan. <br />3) We have begun a business incentive committee to study ways of bringing <br />complimentary businesses to North Olmsted which will enhance the busi.n~sses in <br />the area, give them a competitive edge, and promote expansion. The committee <br />members are Mayor Boyle, Administrative Assistant Nancy Wlodarski, Council Member <br />Ron Tallon, School Superintendent Dermis Allen, School Board member Jim Hines, <br />Ray Butchko from the Community Improvement Corporation, Chamber of Comp~erce <br />President Rick General, Law Director Mike Gareau, and Finance Director Jim Burns. <br />1 <br />
