Council Minutes of 6/18/91
d. Ordinance No. 91-87, an ordinance providing for the issuance and sale of
$2,300,000 notes in anticipation of the issuance of bands, for the purpose of
improving certain designated streets in the City's street system. This is
part of our on-going program of rehabilitating the City streets and drainage.
The Committee recomanends passage.
Mrs. Babas, Chairperson of the Recreation, Public Parks and Buildings
Committee, introduced Tom Fattlar, Director of the Recreation Center, who
presented a slide program on the activities of the Rec Center. the slide show
is presented to the elementary school each spring to acquaint the children
with the various activities and programs that are available to them. Mr.
Fattlar also commented on the me~ny activities for adults and invited everyone
to participate in the family activities of the Recreation Department.
Mrs. Babas and Mr. Fattlar also reported that the drainage work and the
leveling of the park is near completion.
Mr. Nashar, Chairperson of the Streets and Drainage Comni,.ttee reported: 1)
Country Club Boulevard will be barricaded because some motorists have been
attempting to drive on the street during the reconstruction. The work is
going well, and it is possible the project may be completed early.
Audience Partici~atio~n
Mary Dee, ~Brad~.ey Road, asked when the driveways and front yards on
Bradley Road would be completed. She feels the contractor has been slow in
completing this work. Mr. Bohlmaim promised to look into the matter.
John Dee, 5670 Bradley Road, commented that the overflow pipe from his sump
pump is cracked and still hasn't been repaired. The contractor has told him
that a culvert pipe was not needed; however, he feels since there had been one
previously, it should be replaced. He would like to know when the repaving of
the road near the Bradley Oaks subdivision would be complete. Mr. BohLnarm
agreed that area was a problem and Service Department personr~:l had been out
during the weekend to work an that area; the contractor will be charged for
material and labor. Mr. Tallon asked if we had a performance bond cm the
contractor. Mr. BohLnann replied that we did and we also have a deposit. The
deposit will not be returned until the administration and the residents are
satisfied with the work. Mr. Bohlmann and Mr. Boetnmer will inspect the work
on Bradley road in the morning.
Gerri Grant, 5704 Bradley Road, said that since the road had been repaved,
there is a four to five inch drop--a shoulder has not been put in. She feels
this is a dangerous situation. The ditches are very deep and roughly dug--
there is much debris which makes it difficult for an elderly neighbor to reach
her mailbox.
4
