MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF I+tORTii OLMSTED <br />JUNE 4, 1991 <br />Present: Council President Boehmer, Council Members Bahas, Leonard <br />Nashar, Beringer, Tallon. <br />Also Present: Mayor Edward Boyle, Law Director Michael Gareau, Finance <br />Director James Burns, Clerk of Council Barbara Semen. <br />Absent: Council Member McKay. <br />President Boehmer called the meeting to order at 8:05 p.m. in Council <br />Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the <br />Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br />The minutes of the meeting of May 21, 1991 were approved as written. <br />President Boehmer announced: suspension of the rules would be asked for <br />Ordinances 91-72, 91-83, 91-84, and 91-90; a special meeting of Council <br />would be held on Wednesday, June 12, at 7:15 p.m. for the second reading <br />of Ordinances 91-85, 91-86, 91-87. <br />Mayor Boyle reported: 1) The Ohio EPA has officially granted us a six- <br />month extension on our Findings and Orders; this will expire on <br />September 30, 1991. <br />2) We have received $70,000 in additional funds for Elm Road through the <br />Community Development Block Grant Program; bid openings will take place <br />in approximately two weeks. <br />3) Sunset Oval construction should begin in about three weeks. <br />4) Bid openings will take place in about two weeks for the sanitary <br />sewer Phase B program--this is an Issue II project. <br />5) Bid openings for Clifford and Park Ridge will take place the latter <br />part of July. <br />6) Repaving of Bradley Road was delayed because of bad weather; it will <br />be completed this week. <br />7) We are in the process of leveling off North Olmsted Park. <br />8) The Building Department had an unusually active May; the Department <br />report will be available the second. week of June. <br />9) Council needs to address the issue of redistricting. <br />10) We have received demographic information on the City of North <br />Olmsted, Cuyahoga County, and the State of Ohio. Some highlights: <br />North Olmsted population is 34,204--17,800 are female and 16,400 are <br />male; the largest age group is 25 to 44; 24.6% of the population is <br />under 18; 12.9% of the population is 65 or older. Council will receive <br />copies of the report tomorrow. <br />11) Our new City flags have arrived and have been distributed throughout <br />the City. We also sent flags to our state and federal representatives <br />and have received a "thank you" from Congressman Feighan and Senator <br />Suhaldonik. <br />1 <br /> <br />
