f <br />MINUTES OF TEIE MEETING OF TEIE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTID <br />MAY 8, 1991 <br />Present: Council President BoeYmter, Council Members Babas, <br />Leonard, McKay, Nashar, Beringer, Tallon. <br />Also Present: Law Director Michael Gareau, Clerk of Council <br />Barbara Semen. <br />Absent: Council Member O'Grady. <br />The meeting was called to order by Council President Boel~ner at <br />8:03 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, <br />Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the <br />Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br />The minutes of the meeting of April 16, 1991 were approved as written. <br />President Boehmer announced that Ordinance No. 91-71 would be added to <br />the agenda. <br />President Boehaner announced that Mayor Boyle and Finance Director Burns <br />would not be present. <br />On behalf of the Mayor, Service Director Boh]matui presented a <br />proclamation to Rose Geib and James Boehmer in recognition of the <br />Veterans of Foreign Wars and the fund raising activity of selling "Buddy <br />Poppies". The "Buddy Poppies" will be sold during the Memorial Day <br />Week of May 27 through May 31, and the proceeds will benefit needy <br />veterans. <br />Service Director Bohlmann reported for Mayor Boyle: 1) Although the <br />change in millage for the Recreation Dept. did not pass, the Mayor would <br />like to thank all those citizens who took the time to vote. The parks <br />are in need of work and the ice and tennis areas need renovation; <br />therefore, the Mayor would like Council to consider placing this issue <br />on the ballot again. <br />2) The County Auditor's office will hold an enrollment meeting for <br />residents interested in the Homestead Exemption. Interested residents <br />should come to City Hall Council Chambers on Thursday, May 16, between <br />the hours of 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. <br />3) The Board of Control met on May 2 and awarded a contract to A & J <br />Construction Cement Contractors for the reconstruction of Country Club <br />Boulevard. Cost of the project is $2,086,328.50, and work is scheduled <br />to begin on May 13 and be completed before Thanksgiving. For safety <br />reasons, the road will be closed during the business day; school buses <br />and NOMBL buses will be re-routed.
