Also,
suspension of the rules would be asked for Ordinance 91-60.
Mayor Boyle reported: 1) On Monday, April 1, Capt. Bill Smith was sworn
in as the new Assistant Fire Chief. Capt. Smith has been a member of
our Fire Department for 20 years.
2) All the firefighters recently took and passed their EMT training;
they are ncJw certified for the next three years.
3) Residents in the northeast quadrant of the City have complained about
sewer work being conducted at night. There are times when night work is
necessary because the flows are low in the evenings; usually residents
are notified when night work is to take place. However, on a few
occasions, the City has not been notified. We have now adopted a new
policy: all residents will be notified; the Police Department will be
notified by the Service Department; if the City does not receive advance
notification, the work will be shut down.
4) The Recreation Department has reported that the spring swu~ning
registration was highly successful--it was filled within two hours. The
schedule for summer swimming is being evaluated in an attempt to add
more classes.
5) June 7, 8, 9 will be Scouts Weekend; a parade will be held on June 9.
The Soccer Tournament will be held at Barton and Bradley on June 30 and
July 1. Hopefully, the expanded parking area will be completed in time
for this event.
6) The Building Department has found problems with sane hcxnes in the
Porter-Decker area. Apparently, same homeowners have renovated their
hares and in the process have closed the vents to their crawl spaces.
This takes the humidity out of the joists and causes deterioration and
decay. The Building Department is attempting to notify residents of the
potential problem and are offering inspections to homeowners in this
area.
i
