Council Minutes of 4/2/91 <br />Mr. O'Grady questioned the percentage of raises granted to the <br />Directors and their secretaries. <br />Mayor Boyle explained that the .secretaries who are not under the union <br />contract received tree raise on January 1 that went with the union <br />contract. When appropriations were made, they were then given a 2%2% <br />adjustment above the union contract. The Directors also received an <br />increase on January 1. When appropriations were made, the Directors <br />received an adjustment which included their longevity pay. Longevity <br />for Directors is now included in their base pay; in the past, it had <br />been a separate lime item. <br />Mr. Leonard explained his concerns were in regard to the surplus that <br />could be left at the erxi of the year. He felt that the appropriations <br />should meet the top rate of the range so that adjustments could not be <br />made at the end of the year. <br />Mayor Boyle explained that there are always employees who are not paid <br />at the top of the organizations]. chart. The range shows the lowest <br />amount to be paid and the highest amount to be paid. He agreed to amend <br />Ordinance 91-50 so that the top of the range for Directors and other <br />employees would would meet the amount allotted in the appropriations <br />ordinance. <br />Mrs. Saringer moved to recess the meeting so that the amendments could <br />be made; second by Mr. McKay; passed unanimously. Council recessed at <br />9:00 p.m. <br />President Pro Tem Nashar called the meeting back to order at 9:15 p.m. <br />LEGISLATION <br />Mrs. Bahas moved to reconsider Ordinance No. 91-50; second by Mrs. <br />Saringer; passed unanimously. <br />Mrs. Bahas moved to amend Ordinance No. 91-50; second by Mrs. Saringer. <br />Mayor Boyle read the following amendments: <br />Page 1, Section 1, Line B--change Director of Public Service to $49,500. <br /> Line C--change Director of Public Safety to $48,.000. <br /> Line D--change Director of Personnel/Administrative <br /> Services to $47,000. <br /> Line E--change Administrative Assistant to $24,500. <br /> Line F--change Clerk of Commissions to $23,500. <br />Page 2, Section 3, Line B--change Secretary to $24,090. <br />Section 4, Line A--change Secretaries to $24,090. <br />Section 6, Line A--change Public Works Commissioner to $37,300. <br />Page 3, Section 7, Line A--change Superintendent, Class IV, to $42,900. <br />Section 8, Line A--change Building Commissioner to $42,000. <br />6 <br />i <br />
