~ ~t r <br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTID <br />MARCH 19, 1991 <br />Present: Council President Boehmer, Council Members Bahas, Leonard <br />McKay, Nashar, O'Grady, Saringer, Tallon. <br />Also Present: Mayor Ed Boyle, Law Director Michael Gareau, Finance <br />Director James Burns, Clerk of Council Barbara Seman. <br />Council President Boeh~ner called the meeting to order at 8 p.m. in <br />Council Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the <br />Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br />President Boehmer welcomed Council Members Leonard and O'Grady back <br />after their recent hospitalizations. <br />Minutes of the March 5, 1991 meeting were approved as written. <br />President Boehmer announced that Ordinance 91-54 would be added to the <br />agenda; Ordinances 91-45 and 91-53 would be removed from the agenda; <br />suspension of the rules would be asked on 91-51 and 91-52. <br />President Boehmer welcomed Boy Scout Troop 4653. The Scouts were <br />recognized by all present. <br />Mayor Boyle presented a proclamation to School Superintendent, Dr. <br />Dennis Allen, i.n recognition of the school system's triumph over its <br />recent tragedy. The entire school system was congratulated on its <br />ability to stand strong amidst adversity. Dr. Allen introduced several <br />members of the Board of Education: President, Jim Hines; Vice <br />President, Joanne DiCarlo; Members, Don Frazier and Jean Bartoo. Mr. <br />Hines thanked the co~maaiity for coming together and helping the school <br />system recover fran the high school fire. Dr. Allen and the Board of <br />Education members were recognized by all present. <br />Mayor Boyle reported: 1) This is North Olmsted Week on radio station <br />WERE. <br />2) Has recently held discussions with Ron Tober of RTA about a new bus <br />garage. We are looking for funding for a study. Congresswoman Mary <br />Rose Oakar has been contacted for her input and help. We hope to extend <br />public transit on the western side of the County, and RTA is looking <br />favorably on North Olmsted as the site to house the expanded bus fleet. <br />Council will be kept appraised of progress on this project. <br />3) Discussion continues with the WEB comnnuiities concerning a new jail <br />to serve the area. A preliminary study will be done; our share of the <br />cost will be approximately $10,000. The location of the jail will be on <br />Berea Road in Lakewood--away from residential properties. <br />4) Together with Mr. Bohimann, has met with the trustees of Olmsted <br />Township on the sewer tap-in ban. We had been waiting for the Township <br />to coanplete their master plan as that will provide information to us <br />about their current and future needs. <br />1 <br />
