Council Minutes of 3/19/91 <br />~ 5) While in Washington, met with Congressman Feighan and Senator <br />Metzenbaum who are sponsoring the Brady Bill which is currently before <br />Congress. The Brady Bill calls for aseven-day waiting period before <br />purchasing a gun. Some states already have this type of legislation, <br />and it is successful. Unfortunately, other states, Ohio is one, do not <br />have such legislation and are being used as suppliers. We have <br />previously passed legislation sprtin~g this bill, ~d we will continue <br />to lend. support or assist in its passage through Congress. <br />Law Director Gareau reported: 1) A lawsuit filed on behalf of Mr. <br />Biskind, Great Northern Corp.,. has bean received. This lawsuit concerns <br />the rezoning of the land at the corner of Columbia and Country Club <br />Boulevard. <br />2) The Faughender case has been decided in our favor. There are same <br />State claims that remain unresolved, arbd Mrs. Faughender's lawyer may <br />pursue them in State court. However, these claims may prove to be <br />meritless. <br />Finance Director Burns reported: 1) Preliuninary findings from the <br />Regional Transit Authority .audit of I~fBL have been received; no <br />surprises or Lmexpected items were found. Our preliminary review of <br />their report has been completed, and we will be able to settle without <br />any problems. <br />Mrs. Beringer, Chairperson of the Building, Zoning and Development <br />Committee reported: 1) The Cornni.ttee met on March 12 with the following <br />people in attendance: Council Members Beringer, McKay, Tallon; Engineer <br />Diechmann; Building Commissioner Conway; Assistant Law Director Dubelko; <br />Platming Consultant Robert Hill; Planning Commission member Angelo <br />Skoulis; Biskind Development Co. representative George Papandreas. The <br />Zoning Code review was continued and the following changes were made: <br />a. In Chapter 1135.02, F 3, Fences, after the words "a fence", the <br />phrase, "evergreen hedge", was anitted. <br />b. In Chapter 1139.01, 4 F, after "telephone exchanges", add "telephone <br />pay stations and transformer stations". <br />c. In Chapter 1139.03, part of the first paragraph after "purposes of <br />the Zoning Code" will be eliminated and "outdoor telephones, pay phones" <br />will be added. <br />d. In Chapter 1139.07, Yard Regulations, a paragraph will be added. <br />Mr. Hill and Building Commissioner Conway will compose this paragraph. <br />e. In Chapter 1145.09, paragraph B, the Engineer and Building <br />Commissioner will formulate an amendment. <br />~~ <br />f. In Chapter 1145.03, paragraph F, add in no case shall the noise <br />generated exceed the applicable provisions for the industrial uses in <br />Chapter 555". <br />2 <br /> <br />
