Council Minutes of 2/6/91 <br />Mr. McKay, Chairperson of the Environmental Control Committee, thanked <br />everyone for their passage of the income tax and noted a large amount of the <br />revenue raised would be used for solid waste pick-up. Our trash pick up <br />program is a great service to the comtmuiity, and the passage of the income <br />tax assures its continuance withcsut user's fees. <br />Mr. Tallon, Chairperson of the Finance Comm:i.ttee, thanked the citizens for <br />voting for the income tax. It is a good feeling to go into appropriations <br />knowing the money will be available to accomplish projects within the city; <br />these projects will increase the value of all of our homes. ~ hope to prove <br />our worthiness for the confidence the voters have shown in us. <br />Mrs. Bahas, Chairperson of the Lang-Range Plarming Committee, reported: 1) <br />On tonight's agenda is the response to the Lang-Range Pla~.,ng Ccaa~ttee's <br />meeting directing Mr. Copeland to prepare for Ccxmm~mity Block Grant Furxis <br />for the Elm Road project and for the sewer project an Flaherty Road. These <br />ordinances will be passed on suspension tonight. <br />Mr. O'Grady, Chairperson of the Safety Committee, also expressed his <br />happiness with the passage of the income tax. <br />Mr. Nashar, Chairperson of the Streets and Drainage Committee, commented <br />that he was looking forward to seeing work begin on the City streets and to <br />the correction of flooding problems. <br />Mayor Boyle commented that very soon reports on the following projects will <br />be available: streets to be repaired, recycling, aryd improvements to the <br />fire station. <br />A letter from Clerk of Council, Florence Campbell, was read announcing her <br />resignation effective Friday, January 18, 1991. Mrs. Campbell. is reluctant <br />to leave the service of Council but feels her health will not permit her to <br />continue. She promises to keep in touch and to visit often. <br />On behalf of Council, Mr. Nashar expressed thanks to Florence for her <br />service to Council arx3. noted that she would be missed by everyone at City <br />Hall. <br />Audience Participation <br />Toni~te b~0 Tara Lyrm Drive, presented a petition to Council from the <br />homeowners on Tara Lynn. The residents are asking Council's help in urging <br />Mr. Ross Greco, builder of R.A.G. Custom Homes, to repair the basement wall <br />cracks in the homes with no cost to the homeowners. A survey of the homes <br />revealed that out of 27 occupied homes, 17 have cracked basement walls; 24~ <br />of the homes with cracks have had water leaking into the basements. The <br />crack in the Webb home was present on their walk-through two days before <br />moving in, however, it has now begun to leak. Mr. Greco maintains that the <br />warranty has expired. Pis. Webb has contacted the Better Business Bureau <br />and the BIA. In addition, she has contacted the City Engineering and <br />Building Departments. <br />Mr. Gareau commented that this was essentially a private matter between the <br />homeowner and the developer.
