Council Minutes of 10/6/92 <br /> <br />2) Mr. Nashar has recently met with residents of the Pheasants Walk/Quail Run <br />neighborhood to discuss this resolution. The residents asked for further <br />amendments to the legislation with regard to mounding, trees, and other <br />aesthetics. It was pointed out that, since this resolution was drafted by the <br />County, the city could riot make major alterations. Also, the city wnu].d be <br />liable for any additional items. Mr. Nashar supports the Crocker/ Stearns <br />extension and supports the residents' requests for mounding anti other aesthetic <br />improvements. <br />Audience Pa~rti~ci~a_tion <br />Jerey~~sse, 55~Quai1 Run, spoke on behalf of the Pheasants Walk/Quail Run <br />Homeowners' Association. The Association recently met with Mayor Boyle to <br />discuss their concerns. The Association has also met with the School Board to <br />seek their support because this road will impact Forest School. Congresswoman <br />Mary Rose Dakar has also pledged her support to their cause and has been very <br />helpful with staff su~ort. On Wednesday, October 7, Ms. Dakar, County Engineer <br />Neff, Assistant County Engineer Marty Gallito, and Mayor Boyle will meet to <br />discuss this project. Also County CaamLissioner Jim Petro has spoken out on <br />behalf of the residents. The residents would like the City Council to pass a <br />resolution that basically says that Council supports the residents aril would like <br />the Federal Government to. pay for the improvements. Mr. Tasse would like to see <br />a copy of the "executed agreement" between the city and county that is referred <br />to in Resolution 92-131. <br />Jay Power, President of the North Olmsted Firefighters Local 1267 of the <br />International Association of Firefighters, spoke on behalf of Fire Prevention <br />Week. He presented Council Members with a 1993 cal.erdar featuring photographs of <br />professional firefighters in action. This calendar is published each year to <br />raise fords for the International Association of Firefighters Burn Foundation. <br />This foundation provides grants for burn research and treatment throughout the <br />United States and Canada.. During 1991, 25~ of firefighter line-of-duty deaths <br />were the result of burns and asphyxia. Firefighting is a bold, proud profession <br />and the North Olmsted firefighters are proud to be of service to the canrnmity. <br />LEGISLATION <br />Or finance No. 92-111 introduced by Mrs. Saringer was given its second reading. <br />An ordinance providing for the issuance and sale of bonds in the maximum <br />aggregate principal amount of $2,364,000 for the purpose of improving certain <br />designated streets in the city's street system by grading, draining, curbing, <br />reconstructing the pavement base, widening, preparing the surface and paving, by <br />constructing, reconstructing and rehabilitating storm sewers, sanitary sewers and <br />water mains by reconstructing curbs, sidewalks and driveway aprons, by acquiring <br />and installing signals, signs and other equipment and devices to direct and <br />control traffic and by installing underground wires and cables for street <br />lighting, all where necessary, together with the necessary app~tenances and work <br />incidental thereto, and declaring an emergency. Mrs. Saringer moved for <br />suspension of the rules requiring three readings; secorxi by Mr. Lind; motion <br />passed unanimously. Mrs. Beringer moved for adoption; second by Mr. Lind; motion <br />passed ~m~nimously. Ordinance No. 92-111 adopted. <br />6 <br />
