<br />MINUTES OF TEIE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />JULY 7, 1992 <br />Present: Council President Boehmer, Council Members Bahas, Leonard, Lind, <br />McKay, Musial, Nashar, Saringer. <br />Also Present: Mayor Ed Boyle, Law Director Michael Gareau, Finance Director <br />James Burns, Clerk of Council Barbara Seman. <br />President BoeYanes called the meeting to order at 8:05 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of <br />Allegiance to the Flag. <br />Minutes of the meeting of June 16, 1992 were approved as written. <br />President Boehmer announced that a public hearing on the budget would be held at <br />7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 16. Council will be on vacation the first two weeks <br />of July and the first two weeks of August; therefore, the next regularly <br />scheduled Council meeting will be Tuesday, August 18. <br />Mayor Boyle presented a proclamation to the Safety Citizen of 1991, Mr. Larry <br />Sindelar. Mr. Sindelar received the award for his assistance to the I~rth <br />Olmsted Police Department in apprehending a robbery suspect on April 22, 1991. <br />Mr. Sindelar was recognized by all present. <br />Mayor Boyle presented a plaque to Brian King in appreciation of his color design <br />of the North Olmsted City Seal which will now be used as the new North Olmsted <br />Police uniform patch. Brian was recognized bS' all present. <br />Mayor Boyle reported: 1) A new firefighter, Tony Lane, was recently sworn in. <br />Ed Bak has been promoted to captain, ark Jeff Hohenfeld has been promoted to <br />Lieutenant. <br />2) The North Olmsted Fire Firefighters hosted their fifth annual charity car show <br />recently. They raised $2,869.58 which was donated to the Muscular Dystrophy <br />Association. <br />3) The city Fourth of July celebration was a success. There were almost 60 city <br />employees who volunteered to help with the bicycle decorating contest, parade, <br />children's games, and food distribution. The Navy Coast Guard anti our local VFW <br />Post 7647 served as color guards for the parade. All the help and hard work was <br />certainly appreciated. <br />4) The Clean Air Act recently passed by Congress stipulates that as of July 1, <br />1992, appliances containing freon cannot be disposed of without first removing <br />the freon. The removal must be done professionally, or the trash cantraetors <br />will not pick it up. The approximate cost of preparing a refrigerator will be <br />$65. The city is working with Congresswoman Oakar to provide sow relief to <br />homeowners. <br />.~,~p <br />
