<br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF Tf~ COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTID <br />MAY 5, 1992 <br />Present: Council President Boehmer, Council Members Babas, Leonard, Lind, <br />McKay, Musial, Nashar, Beringer. <br />Also Present: Mayor Ed Boyle, Law Director Michael Gareau, Finance Director <br />James Burns, Clerk of Council Barbara Semen. <br />Council President Boehmer called the meeting to order at 8 p.m. in Council <br />Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of <br />Allegiance to the Flag. <br />The minutes of the meeting of April 21, 1992 were approved as written. <br />President Boehmer arniounced that Ordinance No. 92-52 would be added to the agenda <br />and Ord. 92-48, Ord. 92-49, Res. 92-50, and Res. 92-51 would be passed under sus- <br />pension of the rules. <br />Mayor Boyle presented a proclamation to Marie Case for her many years of service to <br />the city. She has served on the Architectural Review Board for fifteen years. A <br />special award for outstanding achievement in architecture and beauty will be given <br />in her name. Ms. Case founded the North Olmsted Art League: in 1955; she founded an <br />arts scholarship, originated grid organized fine arts fairs, arranged for artist of <br />the month displays, and organized art shows to benefit the North Opted Senior <br />Center and area schools. Ms. Case was named Citizen of the Year in 1981. Mayor <br />Boyle proclaimed May 6, 1992 as "Marie Case Day." <br />Mayor Boyle reported: 1) The City of North 0]msted received the 1992 Midland <br />Comnnmity Spirit Award. The proclamation was received fran the city of Midland, <br />Texas which annually gives a spirit award to comtmmties who have gone the extra <br />mile in creating comminity spirit. Students from North Olmsted High School <br />nominated the city for its extra work after the school fire. <br />2) Cuyahoga County has reamed May as foster parent month in honor of the 1,900 <br />foster parents who care for children, many of whom are unadoptable because of birth <br />defects or illnesses. <br />3) Along with Administrative Assistant Nancy Wlodarski, met with the County <br />Commissioners to present the enterprise zone. The proposal was unanimously <br />approved and will now be forwarded to the State of Ohio for approval. <br />4) On May 1, the city will celebrate Earth Arbor Day. The new nature trail at <br />North Olmsted Park will be dedicated on that day. The nature trail is a picnic <br />area arxi a refuge for wildlife and wildflowers. It was donated to the city by the <br />Sportsmen's Club. <br />5) Along with Service Director Boh]mann and City Engineer Deic:hmann, met with the <br />County Engineer on the Stearns Road project. Concerns and recc~mendations from <br />residents had previously been forwarded to the County Engineer. Hopefully, the <br />desires of the residents can be accommodated without impacting adversely on anyone. <br />
