i <br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTID <br />APRIL 7, 1992 <br />Present: Acting President Pro Tem McKay, Council Members Bahas, Leonard, <br />Lind, Musiai, Nashar. <br />Also Present: Mayor Ed Boyle, Law Director Michael Garesu, Finance Director <br />James Burns, Clerk of Council Barbara Seman. <br />Absent: Council President Boehmer, Council Member Saringer. <br />Acting President Pro Tem McKay called the meeting to order at 8 p.m. in Council <br />Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of <br />Allegiance to the Flag. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of March 17, 1992 were approved as written. <br />Mr. McKay introduced himself to the audience aril announced that Council President <br />Boehmer and Council Member/President Pro Tem Saringer would be absent. Mr. McKay <br />armounced that Ordinances 92-32, 92-33, and 92-34 would be passed under suspension <br />of the rules. <br />Mayor Boyle recognized a group of students and two teachers from Dusseldorf, <br />Germany who had been visiting our city through an exchange program. Teachers <br />Jachim Noske and Rudo Penner and their students received a proclamation from Mayor <br />Boyle welcoming them to North Olmsted and proclaiming these honorary citizens. <br />The teachers expressed thanks and appreciation to the c~srntnity and. especially to <br />the school personnel for their hospitality. Mayor Boyle was presented with a <br />photo book of Dusseldorf, Germany. Students from North Olmsted High School will <br />visit Dusseldorf, Germany during the next school term. <br />Mayor Boyle reported: 1) The Administration has been in negotiations over various <br />issues: bus garage, fire station, senior housing, revenwe sharing with the school <br />system on new businesses. Information on these topics will be forthcoming in the <br />near future. <br />2) The school board unanimously approved the enterprise zone proposal at its <br />meeting of Monday, April 6. The proposal will be submitted to the Cuyahoga County <br />Clerk on Monday, April 13 and will be presented to the County Commissioners on <br />Tuesday, April 21. The Engineering Department is currently writing the legal <br />description of the enterprise zone. <br />3) Human Resources Director Don Copeland, Senior Center Director Tina Hlavaty, and <br />Administrative Assistant Nancy Wlodarski have met with representatives of Olmsted <br />Township and Olmsted Falls to renegotiate the contract for the Section lb (b) (2) <br />Coordinated Paratransit Vans . These vans are used to transport senior citizens <br />and handicapped citizens. <br />4) Personnel and Administrative Director Wilamosky recently attended a seminar on <br />economic development. The main issue discussed was regionalization of economic <br />development so that each municipality isn't spending the same dollars to learn the <br />same things. The communities of northeastern Ohio are attempting to cooperate in <br />creating more jobs for the region. Administrative Assistant Nancy Wlodarski is <br /> <br />
