MINUTES OF TEIE MEETING OF TFiE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />FEBRUARY 18, 1992 <br />Present: Council President Pro Tem Saringer, Council Members Leonard, <br />Lind, McKay, Nashar. <br />Also Present: Mayor Ed Boyle, Law Director Michael Gareau, Finance Director <br />James Burns, Clerk of Council Barbara Seman. <br />Absent: Council President Boehmer, Council Members Babas acid Musial. <br />President Pro Tem Saringer called the Council meeting to order at 8:09 p.m. <br />in Council Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge <br />of Allegiance to the Flag. <br />President Pro Tem Saringer welcomed Boy Scout Troop 536 and their leader, <br />Kevin Burnett. <br />Mrs. Saringer announced that Ordinance No. 92-4 had been removed from the <br />agenda. <br />The minutes of the meeting of February 3, 1992 were approved as written. <br />The minutes of the special meeting of February 11, 1992 were approved as <br />written. <br />The minutes of the special meeting of February 13, 1992 were approved as <br />written. <br />Mayor Boyle reported: 1) Today bids were opened on the new rescue vehicle; <br />tomorrow bids will be opened on the repairs to the municipal parking lot. On <br />March 4, bids will be opened on Phase II of Park Ridge. <br />2) On February 26 and 27, will travel to Chicago with Law Director Gareau, <br />Service Director Bolilmarui, and City Engineer Deichmann to meet with the <br />Environmental Protection Agency concerning the Wastewater Treatment Plant. <br />3) The Civil Service Commission will be giving a test for Police on March 10. <br />The Building Inspector test will be given the latter part of March. <br />Recently, Safety Director Gundy and Civil Service Commissioner Robinson have <br />been traveling to area colleges to recruit candidates to test for future <br />positions with the city. <br />4) Have met with Law Director Gareau and School Superintendent Dennis Allen <br />to discuss methods of challenging asses~ents by the County and property <br />owners. In the future, our attorneys, Kondzer & Kolick, will address the <br />property owners and attempt to negotiate a settlement rather than challenging <br />the assessments through the Board of Revision. This method should be more <br />cost effective; and, hopefully, will bring in more businesses to the city <br />because there will be consistency between assessments. <br />5) An enterprise zone for North 0]msted is in development. Establishment of <br />an enterprise zone will give companies locating here a break on state taxes. <br />_ ~~ r.,~s~~~~ <br />
