Council Minutes of 11-03-2010
~~
s`
general retail zoning district, subject to conditional use permit and additional area
restrictions, as amended. This Ordinance was first introduced on August 17, 2010
and then referred to the Planning Commission and scheduled at a Public Hearing
on September 21, 2010. An amendment was discussed regarding the definition of
entertainment arcade devices. The committee voted 2-0 to recommend approval
of Ordinance 2010-112 with the amendment.
Councilman Mahoney made a motion to amend Ordinance 2010-112. The motion was
seconded by Councilman Barker and passed unanimously. Ordinance 2010-112
amended.
Councilwoman Jones said she was proud to go out and campaign in the cities that make
up District 1. They are fortunate here on the west shore to have very well-run cities with
great Mayors and Council members, and to have the opportunity to discuss ideas that are
affecting County government. She feels very fortunate to have had the opportunity to be
an ambassador for North Olmsted during the last several months. She is very proud to be
an elected official here.
AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION
Dennis Lambert, 25057 Carey Lane said he appreciates the public voting Issue 97 down.
He has come up with Charter issues that are more meaningful and have a purpose. One is
restricting what the Law Director's affiliations can be outside of the city. Another
change is that the zoning be approved by popular vote. Gazeau said when there has been
a conflict, he has abstained, not participated in discussion, has removed himself from the
room during discussions and has retained outside counsel on certain occasions. If there is
a conflict, he will do what needs to be done in accordance with the ethics code. Mr.
Lambert's suggestion is a solution that is looking for a problem that doesn't exist.
Charles Dial, 27959 Gardenia thanked everyone for the efforts made at the recreation
center to maintain the swimming pool. He asked for an explanation of Resolution 2010-
138. Mayor Kennedy said the swimming pool steel columns are starting to rot out, and
this Resolution will allow the city to repair these columns. He also requested a few full
size lockers in the locker rooms. Mayor Kennedy said they are planning on getting a few
full size lockers, benches and coat hangers.
LEGISLATION
Ordinance 2010-112 introduced by Mayor Kennedy and Council members Barker and
Jones was given its second reading.
