MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED OCTOBER 5, 2010 Present: President of Council Limpert, Council Members Barker, Brossard, Jones, Kearney, Mahoney, Orlowski, Williamson Also Present: Mayor Kennedy, Director of Law Gareau, Director of Finance Copfer, Clerk of Council Gallo, Director of Human Resources Farver, Director of Public Safety and Public Service Ritenauer, Director of Planning and Development Wenger President Limpert called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. The minutes of the Council meeting of September 21, 2010 were approved as written. The following legislation will be considered for passage under suspension of the rules: Second Reading -Resolution 2010-122; First Reading -Resolution 2010-132. REPORTS Mayor Kennedy: • On Tuesday, September 28, 2010 he met with 6th graders at Maple school who are running for office to talk about campaign strategies. He will return to the school after the elections to see the results. • The City of North Olmsted is eligible to participate in the County's Municipal Energy Grant Program, which will enable the City to complete an energy audit of all city buildings and infrastructure. One hundred percent of the cost of the audit will be grant funded. The audit must meet particular US Department of Energy requirements. The audit can then be used by the City in applying for future energy grants and funding opportunities. • Tom Rice, Assistant Superintendent of the Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP), will be retiring January 31, 2011. • Four firefighters being recalled will be sworn in at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 18, 2010 in Council Chambers. • There will be a meeting Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. for ESCI's findings and recommendations related to the regional fire district. • Ken Hehnen has been chosen by the Cleveland Clinic EMS Council to receive an award for service rendered to a citizen in need in 2009 and 2010.
